Call it a Christmas miracle, the luckiest bet ever, or a great way to spend the holiday. A DraftKings bettor called it a $489,000 payout from DraftKings Sportsbook on Monday.

With San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey scoring a touchdown against the Baltimore Ravens on Christmas Day night, Travis Dufner cashed in on a 14-leg touchdown parlay that paid out at +9,787,560 on a $5 wager, netting him nearly half a million dollars over three days.

According to DraftKings, the other TD scorers in Week 16 that helped the bettor score big included Najee Harris, Gabriel Davis, Jahmyr Gibbs, DK Metcalf, Jerome Ford, Chris Rodriguez Jr., James Connor, Raheem Mostert, Javonte Williams, Isiah Pacheco, and D’Andre Swift.

Christmas drama

After hitting the first 11 legs between Saturday and Sunday, Pacheco scored for the Kansas City Chiefs on a direct snap in the second quarter of the early game Monday. Swift’s TD was much more of sweat as his score didn’t come until the fourth quarter of the Philadelphia Eagles’ mid-day win over the New York Giants.

Dufner, who according to his social media accounts resides in New Jersey, didn’t have to wait too long to hit his bet as McCaffrey reached the end zone on a 9-yard run in the second quarter, setting off a celebration for the lucky bettor.

Good publicity

DraftKings took the big hit in stride, continuing to post on social media and capitalize on the exposure for the mobile sportsbook.

DraftKings operates in more than 20 states and is one of the top online sports betting in the U.S. The online sportsbook generated $790 million in revenue in the third quarter, 57% higher than the same quarter in 2022.

The operator took in over $218 million in wagers last week for the first time since it began operating in New York in 2022. This latest big score by a DraftKings player will likely be good publicity for the sportsbook.
