Congratulations to mctrap on his $25,000 win in the Covers Streak Survivor betting contest!

He has done it!

Covers user mctrap has guaranteed himself of at least a $25,000 payday after reaching 21 consecutive wins in the free-to-play Streak Survivor contest. Mctrap becomes the first Covers user since January 2015 to take home $25,000 when brackson13 put together a streak of 24 wins.

The landmark win came on Saturday evening as he selected the Over 11 runs in the San Diego Padres-Colorado Rockies MLB game. It wasn’t even much of a sweat for mctrap as the two teams came out swinging hot bats, reaching 11 runs in the bottom of the fourth. The winning moment came just an inning later as Ian Desmond stepped up to the plate with the bases loaded and promptly crushed a 419-foot grand slam.

The Padres-Rockies game on Saturday evening was actually part of a record-breaking series in which the two teams broke a modern-era record by scoring an absurd 92 runs in the four-game set.

Mctrap’s selection of the Over on Saturday evening should not have been a surprise to any who have been following his picks. In fact, three of his last four selections have been baseball Overs, a trend he specifically mentioned when explaining what he looks for when making a sports wager.

“Our brain is like a pattern-seeking survival machine and the habits are how we ensure that we don’t always have to think too hard about what we’re going to do,” mctrap explained in an interview last Wednesday. “We look for familiar situations so I have certain criteria that I look for as far as handicapping habits and I’ve just kind of developed those habits and I rely on those.

“Now, with that being said, I think that this MLB season so far has been, if you look at the right teams and all these home runs that are flying out, you can bet a lot of these Overs in some situations. It’s kind of a little bit of a sweet spot, in my opinion, for streak bettors that want to look for really good Over situations so I try to do that.”

Mctrap has been a Covers user since 2008 and has been playing our free contests ever since. He has put together a lifetime record of 1646-1506-76 in Streak Survivor and also finished in the Top 10 2014-15 regular-season edition of the King of Covers NFL contest.

His current streak dates back to April 28, 2019, and has consisted of mostly MLB Overs and sides, with a few basketball games mixed in. Here’s a look at his most recent 10 wins:

Mctrap is feeling good with his $25,000, but make no mistake: His streak is not finished yet and he has his sights on the $100,000 grand prize that comes after 25 consecutive winners. Mctrap made a selection on Tuesday evening, taking the Over nine runs in the Kansas City-Seattle MLB game and wound up with a push after the Royals won 9-0. While mctrap is surely happy that is streak lives on, he's probably feeling a bit unlucky after the Mariners left the 10th run on base in the bottom of the ninth after Omar Narvaez led off the inning with a double.

His next pick is in! Mctrap has chosen the Over 8.5 in the San Diego Padres at Pittsburgh Pirates matchup on Friday, June 21. The Padres send lefty Eric Lauer (5-6, 4.60 ERA) to the mound, while the Pirates counter with righty Joe Musgrove (4-7, 4.87 ERA). Interestingly, Lauer was also on the mound when mctrap won got his 21st win last Saturday with the Over 11 in the Padres-Rockies matchup.
