Sports betting, like pretty much everything else, will have a new look when sportsbooks with retail operations more fully emerge from the COVID-19 shutdown. For Treasure Island on the Las Vegas Strip, that look will involve moving from its longtime dedicated space into a shared space.
As part of a transition that includes the closing of the Treasure Island buffet, the sportsbook will move into an expanded Golden Circle Sports Bar. The Golden Circle, which opened in November 2018, will expand to take over the buffet space, a portion of which will include the Treasure Island sportsbook.
“It will now be a sportsbook that has a bar with it,” Treasure Island sportsbook director Tony Nevill told Covers. “They’re doubling the size of the Golden Circle, and the book will be inside that venue. You’ll walk into the Golden Circle to access the book.”
The Golden Circle, currently more of a half-circle, will come full circle when the project is completed in the fall. The bar itself, with three large-screen TVs above it, will become a two-sided bar with three more large screens, and there will be more seating – along with the sportsbook – in the newly acquired space.
“It’s a more intimate space for the book,” Nevill said, noting sports betting kiosks would be more prevalent, as well.
