My analysis
The finale of this four-game set will feature a southpaw showdown as Oakland A’s veteran Alex Wood toes the rubber against New York Yankees’ starter Nestor Cortes.
It has been an interesting season for the Yankees to this point. They currently lead the American League East with a 17-8 record, and the Juan Soto acquisition has been an absolute home run. However, some key Yankees bats are struggling, including Aaron Judge and Gleyber Torres, who are both hitting below the Mendoza Line so far.
That said, the Yanks are coming off a 7-3 win where they got contributions from up and down the lineup, including two hits and a homer for Judge, and I like their chances to keep that trend going tonight.
That’s mostly due to the matchup with Wood.
Wood has allowed three or more runs in four of his five starts, and that will be a great start in helping the Yankees hit the Over on their team total of 4.5.
