Walker Buehler (10-1, 2.31 ERA): Buehler is having the best season of his young career, and he comes into this game after having allowed just three earned runs in his last 20 1-3 innings on the mound. Buehler’s last start also happened to come against this Giants team, when he gave up one earned run in 7 1-3 innings of work and struck out nine batters on July 22. Los Angeles somehow lost that game, but it’s unlikely that’d happen again.
Anthony Desclafani (10-4, 2.87 ERA): DeSclafani gave up three earned runs in six innings in his start against the Dodgers on July 22, with San Francisco finding a way to top Los Angeles despite that excellent effort by Buehler. In four starts against the Dodgers this season, DeSclafani has an ERA of 8.84, but it was the 10 runs in 2 2-3 innings on May 23 that ended up skewing the numbers. For the most part, the righty has been superb this year.

Moneyline pick
DeSclafani has looked unhittable at times this season, but he has come back down a little closer to earth recently. The righty has allowed three earned runs in three of his last five starts, and two of those outings came against this Dodgers team. With Buehler on the mound, a three-run game doesn’t exactly make the Giants the favorite to win this contest, but the more concerning thing for San Francisco is that Los Angeles might be starting to figure DeSclafani out.
The Dodgers also boast some impressive numbers against the righty in their careers, with the team being a combined 32-for-100 with five homers and 15 RBIs against DeSclafani. Four of those homers came from Max Muncy and Will Smith, so you’ll want to keep an eye on them here.
In four starts against the Giants this season, Buehler is 2-0 with a 1.00 ERA and he has 24 strikeouts in 27 innings of work. He’s just been downright dominant against San Francisco on the year, and he’s also 5-0 with a 2.67 ERA when pitching at Oracle Park in his career.
Numbers like those make the Dodgers easy to back at this price, even if it does seem too good to be true.

Over/Under pick
Buehler isn’t the type of guy to allow too many runs, especially when he’s rolling like this.
The righty does, however, occasionally slip up and allow some home runs early in games. Perhaps San Francisco will get a hold of one early on and put some pressure on.
The Dodgers, meanwhile, seem poised for another breakout performance against DeSclafani. They scored 10 runs on him in their first meeting this season, but he has given up just three or fewer earned runs in each of the last three.
Look for the Dodgers to come through with five or six runs in this one.
