The New York Yankees and Tampa Bay Rays continue their four-game set this afternoon at George M. Steinbrenner Field in Tampa.

Paul Goldschmidt is tearing the cover off the baseball so far this season and he will continue to do so as I’ll explain in my Yankees vs. Rays predictions.

Keep reading for my MLB picks for Saturday, April 19.

Yankees vs Rays prediction

My Yankees vs Rays best bet: Paul Goldschmidt Over 1.5 total hits, runs, & RBI (-115 at Bet365)

After a down year in 2024 with the St. Louis Cardinals, Paul Goldschmidt has found his best once again since landing in the Bronx. The veteran signed a one-year deal with the New York Yankees in the offseason, and he’s been one of their top hitters.

Goldschmidt is slashing .373 in 20 games, smacking 28 hits in 75 at-bats. He has at least one hit in six of his last seven contests and went 3 for 4 on Friday to lead the way in a 1-0 win over Tampa Bay. In fact, the slugger has three multi-hit games in three of his previous five appearances.

Shane Baz is on the hill today for the Tampa Bay Rays, and Goldschmidt has only faced him twice, registering one hit. When it comes to runs and RBI, Goldschmidt has crossed the plate 11 times and driven in six.

To be honest, I’m eyeing this bet mostly for his three-game hitting streak. Goldschmidt has six hits in the last three games alone and also three runs during that span. The 37-year-old will contribute offensively again versus Tampa.

Yankees vs Rays same-game parlay (SGP)

Paul Goldschmidt Over 1.5 total hits, runs, RBI

Shane Baz Over 6.5 strikeouts

Carlos Carrasco Over 2.5 earned runs allowed

After dealing with a lot of injuries early in his career, Baz was solid last season in limited work, and he’s carried that into ‘25 so far. The right-hander is 2-0 through three starts with a 1.42 ERA, striking out 27 in 19 innings while walking just four.

Baz has cashed the Over in strikeouts in two of his first three outings of the season, racking up 11 Ks against the Boston Red Sox last time out and collecting another 10 punchouts on April 1

versus the Pittsburgh Pirates. Although some of these Yankees hitters have had success against Baz, they do strike out a fair amount. I’ll take the Over here.

It’s no secret that Carlos Carrasco’s best days are behind him. The veteran has stepped into the Yankees rotation after injuries hurt their depth, and he’s not exactly thriving, posting a 5.94 ERA in four appearances, including three starts.

Although Carrasco allowed just one earned run in his last appearance, the right-hander gave up Over 2.5 earned runs in his three outings before that. Tampa doesn’t have a ton of experience against Carrasco, but the handful of hitters who have faced him are slashing .269.
