The Toronto Blue Jays have dropped three games in a row but are hoping that handing the ball to one of the hottest pitchers in baseball will do the trick when they continue their series with the Houston Astros on Tuesday night.
If you haven’t been paying attention to the Jays it may surprise you to learn that pitcher is Chris Bassitt. The right-hander is dealing and gets a great matchup against an Astros lineup that is struggling to start the year.

Toronto Blue Jays starter Chris Bassitt has been spinning it!
The veteran right-hander, with what seems like an unlimited arsenal of pitches, has looked close to unhittable over his first four starts of the season.
Bassitt has allowed just two earned runs on 20 hits while punching out 31 batters over 23 1/3 innings pitched. His 0.77 ERA is tops in the American League, and the success hasn’t been a fluke.
The 36-year-old owns a 2.86 expected ERA, and is in the 90th percentile when it comes to strikeout rate and there’s no reason to think he can’t continue that success tonight against the Houston Astros.
It’s been a tough start to the season for the Houston Astros offense, and it was looking like more of the same in last night’s opener against Kevin Gausman before a string of hits in the fifth allowed Houston to jump out to a 4-0 lead.
Despite the offensive outburst, the Astros still rank 21st in batting average, 24th in both OPS and wRC+. They also have the 11th highest strikeout rate this season when facing right-handed pitching.
Bassitt has a strikeout prop sitting at 5.0 for this matchup with the Over sitting at a reasonably priced -125. The Jays right-hander has matched this number in all four of his starts this season and has seven or more in three of those starts.
I like him to keep the Astros off balance long enough to go Over this number once again.

I’m betting Chris Bassitt does his part to shut down the Astros on Tuesday night and with the Blue Jays not having to use any of their best relievers, so all of them should be good to go for Tuesday night’s matchup.
And while I talked about the Astros' struggles, the Blue Jays have a lot of improving to do themselves. Much has been made of the fact that they have hit the second fewest home runs in the big leagues and tonight they go against a starter who’s had their number in Ronel Blanco.
Blanco no-hit the Jays last season, and while he hasn’t been as effective this year, the lack of pop in the Jays' bats could be a problem. As a team, Toronto has a combined .218 expected batting average against Blanco. So, adding Under 8.5 total runs in tonight’s game makes a lot of sense.
However, one guy with decent numbers against Blanco is Bo Bichette. The Blue Jays' shortstop has looked like his old self this season and trails only Aaron Judge in the AL when it comes to hits.
He enters this game with a .315 average and has multiple hits in five of his last eight games, which includes four doubles. Bichette is also 3-for-6 in his career vs. Blanco with a double and a dinger. So, let’s add Over 1.5 total bases for Bo in this SGP. Some thing he has done in six of his last eight games.
