Mets vs Phillies Prediction, Picks & Odds for Tonight’s MLB Game

Francisco Lindor continues to show why the Mets gave him a 10-year contract back in 2021 with an all-around fantastic year, and his run-scoring prowess is of particular interest in the prop markets tonight.

Latest MLB Picks
Francisco Lindor New York Mets MLB

The New York Mets head south to take on the Philadelphia Phillies for a weekend series at Citizens Bank Park.

The Phillies are coming off a sweep of the Rays to increase their division lead to eight games over the Mets. Meanwhile, New York has alternated losses and wins in its last four games after a long winning streak.

Speaking of long streaks, Francisco Lindor has been on quite a heater when it comes to scoring runs. I’m backing that to continue in my Mets vs. Phillies predictions and MLB picks for Friday, September 13.

My analysis

Although the NL MVP odds race is ultimately decided thanks to Shohei Ohtani’s historic season, Francisco Lindor is building a strong case for himself. The New York Mets shortstop has scored 102 runs with 31 home runs and 85 RBI while batting .269 on the season.

He’s really come on in the second half with a .296 average, as opposed to a .253 mark in the first half. After scoring 63 runs in his first 95 games (.66 per), Lindor has already scored 39 runs in 51 games (.76 per) since the All-Star Break.

Lindor has also scored runs consistently for the Mets. He’s come across the plate in 82 of 146 games (56%) thus far, including 11 of his last 13 and 21 of 27 in the last calendar month.

Given those percentages, we’re getting pretty good odds for Lindor to score again on Friday night against the Philadelphia Phillies. Of course, those odds are factoring in Aaron Nola on the mound for Philadelphia.

The right-hander is 12-7 with a 3.41 ERA on the season, including a complete-game shutout against the Mets back in May, but Nola is coming off allowing five runs (four earned) in just 4 2/3 innings against the Marlins last time out.

Mets vs Phillies same-game parlay (SGP)

Francisco Lindor 1+ run

Under 8.5

Phillies moneyline

I’m going to try to thread the needle here on a same-game parlay for a nice payout, so don’t risk too much on this one. Along with my best bet of Lindor to score a run, I’m taking the Phillies to win the game and for it to go Under.

Nola and Jose Quintana should be strong enough on the mound to limit the runs through five or six innings, and both teams have bullpens in the top half of the league. I just think the Mets' overall lineup isn't as strong as the Phillies' right now.
