Giancarlo Stanton extended his hit streak to 12 games with yet another dinger. Stanton is now hitting an even .500 with five homers and 10 RBIs over that stretch.

The Bronx Bombers are back! Or at least Giancarlo Stanton is. The New York Yankees outfielder will look to continue his ridiculous heater when he and his teammates host the Washington Nationals for the opener of a three-game set.

The Yankees dropped their last game but have won seven of nine overall as their bats begin to heat up, while the Nationals are coming off a sweep at the hands of the Atlanta Braves.

Check out our MLB free picks and predictions for Nationals vs. Yankees on Friday, May 7, with first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m. ET.

Starting pitchers

Patrick Corbin (1-3, 8.10 ERA): It has been a rough start to the season for Nationals’ lefty. Corbin has a 1.76 WHIP and opponents are hitting nearly .300 off him to go along with that ugly ERA. But Corbin may have turned a corner, recording two quality starts in his last three appearances, pitching to a 3.18 ERA.

Jameson Taillon (1-2, 5.24 ERA): It has been a similar story for Taillon. His first two starts in pinstripes were a little rocky, but he has rebounded with solid outings in two of his last three and is coming off limiting the Tigers to one run on three hits in five innings. However, Taillon has not gone long into games, never pitching more than five innings.

Betting trend to know

Runline pick

The Yankees may have lost their last game, but the rest of Major League Baseball is on notice. The Bronx Bombers, led by Giancarlo Stanton are back. Over their last nine games, the Yankees are 7-2 while plating 5.56 runs per game, and no one is clubbing balls with more ferocity than Stanton.

The Yanks’ outfielder extended his hit streak to 12 games with yet another dinger. Stanton is now hitting an even .500 with five homers and 10 RBIs over that stretch. Now, he and the Yanks get to go up against the Nationals’ Patrick Corbin.

The Nats’ lefty has bounced back a bit but he is still struggling with his command. Corbin has nearly as many walks this season (14) as strikeouts (18) and giving the Yankees extra baserunners is never a recipe for success. To make matters worse, the Yankees rank sixth in batting average and OPS against lefties this season.

Taillon, on the other hand, has his own issues, but the Nationals don’t hit right-handers nearly well as they do lefties. And Taillon’s job is simple, get through five innings relatively well and then hand the ball off to the big leagues' best bullpen.

The moneyline is too pricy here so take the Yankees on the runline.

PREDICTION: Yankees -1.5 (+110)

Over/Under pick

Even though the Yankees are back to slugging baseballs like we are used to and they’re a good bet to get to Corbin, this number may be a little high.

While Corbin has had his problems, he has allowed just two earned runs on eight hits in his last two road starts. Corbin also has the support of a sneaky good Nationals bullpen that ranks seventh in WHIP and third in opponent batting average.

At the same time, the Nats’ bats have gone silent. They have scored three runs or fewer five times in their last six games with the Under going 5-1 in that stretch. Even if Washington can get to Taillon, they then have to deal with a Yanks’ pen that's among the MLB leaders in ERA, WHIP, and opponent batting average.

This one should sneak Under the number.

PREDICTION: Under 9.5 (-110)
