Blake Snell has been dealing since coming off the IL at the start of July, and I'm set to back him in a favorable matchup.
See why I'm also bullish on All-Star sluggers Bryce Harper and Corey Seager with three favorite MLB player props for Saturday, August 24.
MLB props for August 24
- Snell Under 1.5 earned runs (+115 at DraftKings)
- Harper Over 1.5 total bases (-104 at Caesars)
- Seager Over 1.5 hits, runs, and RBIs (-140 at bet365)
Today’s best MLB props
Prop bet #1: Blake Snell Under 1.5 earned runs
Blake Snell initially struggled at the start of the season while dealing with a nagging adductor sprain. However, since coming off the IL in July, the San Francisco Giants left-hander has been almost unhittable, pitching to a 1.03 ERA with a 0.69 WHIP through eight starts.
The two-time Cy Young winner has fanned an incredible 55 batters in his last 34 innings and will now face a Seattle Mariners squad that strikes out at the highest rate in the majors. The M's have been terrible against southpaws like Snell, batting an MLB-worst .208 with an OPS of .647.
They also average just 3.67 runs per game at pitcher-friendly T-Mobile Park. Expect Snell to stay hot against this ice-cold Seattle lineup.
Prop bet #2: Bryce Harper Over 1.5 total bases
Bryce Harper is slashing .275/.364/.522 and has racked up 224 total bases in 112 games. The Philadelphia Phillies All-Star went 2-for-4 at the dish with a double against the Kansas City Royals last night and is poised for another big day.
The Royals are sending Brady Singer to the hill, and while he has an impressive 3.18 ERA through 25 starts, his expected ERA is significantly worse at 4.46. Singer also struggles against lefties like Harper, allowing them to slash .289/.363/.480.
Things won't get any better after Singer, with the Royals bullpen 25th in the majors in ERA (4.31) and 28th in WHIP (1.40).
Prop bet #3: Corey Seager Over 1.5 hits + runs + RBIs
Corey Seager is 16th in the majors in slugging percentage (.502) and leads the Texas Rangers with 28 homers and 70 RBI. The five-time All-Star is slashing .293/.367/.587 with 29 runs and 33 RBI in 43 games since the start of July.
Seager slugs .551 with the platoon advantage and now faces the Cleveland Guardians, who are starting righty Ben Lively and have just one southpaw in their bullpen. Lively ranks in the bottom 10th percentile in exit velocity and the bottom 30th percentile in hard-hit rate, and he has pitched to a 4.62 ERA since the start of July.
With Seager sitting in the top 10th percentile in exit velocity, barrel rate, and hard-hit rate, expect a big game from the Rangers shortstop. This is a five-star play according to THE BAT X, which is projecting 2.8 hits, runs, and RBI for Seager.
