It’s another busy MLB Saturday, which means bettors have a slew of player prop bets to sift through. We’ve combed over the slate to deliver our top three selections.
We’re going to support an AL Cy Young frontrunner to keep the hits to a minimum on the road, an NL MVP candidate to cross the plate, and an Arizona Diamondbacks hitter to rattle Colorado Rockies starter Antonio Senzatela.
Here are our best MLB player props for Saturday, August 6.
MLB props for August 6
- McClanahan Under 4.5 hits allowed (+108)
- Goldschmidt Over 0.5 runs (+118)

McClanahan tames Tigers
Tampa Bay Rays ace Shane McClanahan should be able to pad his Cy Young résumé when he visits the Detroit Tigers on Saturday evening.
McClanahan has pitched to a 1.62 ERA on the road this year (44 1-3 innings), and an even more impressive .141 opponent batting average. He’s allowing just 4.2 hits per nine innings in that sample.
The Florida native surrendered seven hits to the Cleveland Guardians when last seen on Sunday, but prior to that he had allowed four hits or fewer in nine consecutive starts. In fact, of his 21 starts on the year, 17 have been of the four-hit-or-fewer variety.
The Detroit Tigers should not be expected to offer much resistance to McClanahan on Saturday, as they’re third-worst in the majors by team batting average (.226). This is a both an excellent line and price for this prop, so don’t hesitate to add this one to your bet slip.
Shane McClanahan Prop: Under 4.5 hits allowed (+108 at Caesars)
Solid Goldschmidt
The St. Louis Cardinals should be delighted to see the struggling Domingo German (1-1, 6.39 ERA) stepping onto the mound at Busch Stadium for the New York Yankees on Saturday night. Paul Goldschmidt has been at the forefront of the Redbirds attack all season long, and he can stir up some trouble at the dish once more.
Goldschmidt has recorded a run in four straight games to begin the month of August, driving himself in with a round-tripper on two occasions. Stretching back to July 13, Goldy has a run to his credit in 12 of his last 15 contests.
If Goldschmidt doesn’t jump the yard in this tilt, he still has a good chance to get driven in by Nolan Arenado if he gets on base. Arenado hit .338 in July, and is off to a torrid start in August, posting a .462 average.
Most books are offering about 10/11 odds on Goldschmidt to score a run but shop around and you’ll find a plus-money opportunity or two.
Paul Goldschmidt Prop: Over 0.5 runs (+118 at Unibet)
Varsho time
Daulton Varsho figures to be one of several Diamondbacks batters besieging Antonio Senzatela on Saturday night. That should enable his RBI prop to cash in at nice odds.
Josh Rojas and Ketel Marte typically hit above Varsho in the order, and each has strong numbers against Senzatela all-time. Rojas has gone 6-for-14 (.429) lifetime against the Venezuela native, while Marte is 10-for-25 (.400).
The former has reached base safely in each of his first four games in August and hit .321 in July. The latter has been brought home 16 times over his last 28 contests.
Varsho has begun the month by batting .357 with a pair of RBI, both on solo home runs. Last month, Varsho had only three homers in total, but led his club with 16 RBI.
He’s hitting .343 on the year with runners in scoring position, and with the subpar Senzatela (3-6, 4.87 ERA) on the mound — whom Varsho is 4-for-8 against all-time — that number should rise on Saturday night.
Daulton Varsho Prop: Over 0.5 RBI (+135 at FanDuel)
