Today’s MLB Prop Bets, Picks and Predictions: Posey Bounce Back Likely Against Southpaw Heaney

Buster Posey has had a bounce-back year for the Giants, hitting .323 through the first two months of the season, but he is especially lethal against lefties with a .457 average and a 1.394 OPS.

It’s a loaded day on the diamond with 15 games on the Big League schedule, which means we have a bevy of options when it comes to MLB prop bets.

Today, we look at another strikeout prop against the slumping New York Yankees offense, as Tyler Glasnow takes the ball for the Tampa Bay Rays, and can a certain San Francisco Giants’ catcher bust out of a mini-slump versus the Los Angeles Angels?

We break down and pick those games and more with our best free MLB prop bets and predictions for Tuesday, June 1.

Today’s MLB props and picks

Tyler Glasnow Over 8.5 Strikeouts (-110)

Yesterday, we got burned by Rich Hill’s strikeout prop against the Yankees but we didn’t account for the fact that the Bronx Bombers would get themselves out so early in counts. That said, we are going back to the well with Tyler Glasnow because the strikeout artist owns a devastating fastball, which of all things is the Yankees’ weakness.

Yes, the Yankees have trouble hitting the fastball (of all pitches) this season and have scored two runs or fewer 10 times in their last 14 games. They have also struck out the sixth most in baseball over that stretch.

Glasnow himself bounced back in a big way after his worst strikeout performance of the season by striking out 11 Royals in eight innings of shutout ball where the right-hander allowed just three hits. It was the sixth time in his last nine starts that Glasnow racked up double-digit punchouts.

While Glasnow had seven strikeouts in his lone meeting against the Yankees, that was back on April 17. New York has been much worst since then and he has also gone Over this number seven times in his last 10 starts — getting this total at this number looks like a good bet.

Marcus Stroman Under 5.5 Hits Allowed (+105)

The New York Mets have a lot of problems but the top two spots in their rotation ain’t one. Jacob deGrom looks fine after shutting out the Arizona Diamondbacks on just two hits over six innings and tonight it’s Marcus Stroman’s turn.

The right-hander isn’t deGrom but is having a great year in his own right. There aren’t many starters out there today that do a better job of messing up a hitter’s timing than Stroman. He uses a great mix of pitches and hesitations in his delivery to keep them off balance. As a result, Stroman is pitching to a 2.47 ERA with a 1.05 WHIP this season.

Next up for Stroman is a D-backs team that has cooled off considerably at the dish after a hot start to the season. Over the last 30 days, Arizona ranks 22nd in the MLB by hitting just .228 against right-handed pitchers and averaging just 7.68 hits per nine innings.

It was a little surprising to see this number at plus money, considering Stroman has stayed below it six times in his 10 starts this season, but who are we to say no?

Buster Posey Over 1.5 Total Bases (+140)

Age is just a number when it comes to hitting. Look at the rejuvenated Albert Pujols with the Dodgers. Hitters can hit and Buster Posey falls into that category as the San Francisco Giants’ 34-year-old catcher is having quite the comeback season.

Posey has been a big reason for the Giants' surprising start this year, hitting .323 with a 1.009 OPS this season. While Posey is in a bit of a slump right now, he will have a chance to get back on track when the Giants host the Los Angeles Angels on Tuesday night.

The Halos hand the ball to Andrew Heany for this one in what has been an up-and-down season for the lefty. And right now, he is in a down patch. Heany has a 7.71 ERA with opponents hitting .311 off him over his last three starts.

It doesn’t hurt that Posey is also crushing lefties this season, hitting .457 with a 1.394 OPS and that Heaney is backed up by one of the worst bullpens in baseball. Bet on Posey to break out of his little slump and cash the Over on his total bases prop.
