Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Over 1.5 Total Bases (-128)
The Blue Jays slugger has continued his ascent into superstar status after being named AL Player of the Week for the third time in his career.
The 22-year-old is having an MVP caliber season where he is leading the majors in RBI (66), on-base percentage (.443), slugging percentage (.684), and OPS (1.127).
Vladdy Jr. has been especially dominant at "home" between Dunedin and Buffalo, batting .395 with an OPS of 1.348. Today, Vladdy and the Jays host the Seattle Mariners and pitcher Chris Flexen.
Flexen has been very effective at T-Mobile Park in Seattle but has struggled on the road, where he has pitched to a 7.27 ERA, with a 1.69 WHIP and an opponent batting average of .355 in five starts. Expect another big night from big Vlad and bet the Over on his total bases.
Cincinnati Team Total Over 4.5 (+100)
A grand slam from Nick Castellanos in the bottom of the seventh inning last night propelled the Cincinnati Reds to a 12-4 victory over the Phillies.
The Reds have been mashing at Great American Ball Park, ranking first in the majors in scoring with 5.84 runs per game at home and second in OPS at .817. Castellanos and Jesse Winker have led the way for the Reds, combining to bat .336 with 33 home runs and 96 RBI in a total of 142 games.
Today the Reds host the San Diego Padres who will give the ball to Blake Snell. The 2018 AL Cy Young winner has struggled in his first season with the Padres, pitching to a 5.29 ERA with a 1.55 WHIP. But his play away from the pitcher-friendly Petco Park in San Diego has been especially horrific. In eight starts on the road, Snell has a 10.36 ERA, 2.23 WHIP, and an opponent batting average of .328.
With Snell getting shelled on the road and the Reds raking at home, take the Over on Cincy's team total.
Giants vs Dodgers First Five Innings Under 3.5 (-108)
We had a low-scoring battle on the West Coast last night as the Los Angeles Dodgers edged the San Francisco Giants 3-2 in L.A. As impressive as both teams have been at the plate, we could be due for another pitching duel tonight.
Kevin Gausman gets the start for San Fran today and if it wasn't for Jacob deGrom's historically dominant year we'd probably be talking about the Giants hurler running away with the Cy Young Award.
The right-hander is 8-1 with a 1.49 ERA, 0.77 WHIP, and an opponent batting average of .157 across 15 starts. He's been extremely consistent, allowing one run or fewer in 12 of 15 starts this year — including pitching six scoreless innings against the Dodgers on May 30.
The Dodgers will send Walker Buehler to the hill and he is 7-1 with a 2.51 ERA and 0.92 WHIP in 15 starts this year. Buehler is coming off a poor (by his lofty standards) outing against the Cubs where he surrendered three runs in six innings. But given how consistent he has been in his career, and how dominant he has been at home, we expect him to bounce back to his usual excellent self today.
The Under is 7-0-2 in the Dodgers' last nine games at home while the Under has cashed in seven of the Giants' previous eight contests on the road. Take the Under on the first five innings.
