Aaron Civale has allowed five or fewer hits in five of his seven starts this season, a trend he looks to continue against a sad Mariners offense tonight.

There is no better way to kick off a weekend than with some MLB prop bets, and with a whopping 16 games on tap today, that’s exactly what we're going to do.

Can the Tampa Bay Rays’ Tyler Glasnow cash another strikeout total prop going up against the red-hot New York Mets? And can Giancarlo Stanton slug the New York Yankees to a win against the Baltimore Orioles?

We break down and pick those games and more with our best free MLB prop bets and predictions for Friday, May 14.

Today’s MLB props and picks

Tyler Glasnow Over 8.5 Strikeouts (+110)

Playing the Over on Tyler Glasnow’s strikeouts is becoming close to automatic when he takes the ball for the Tampa Bay Rays, even when he goes up against a team that doesn’t strike out a whole lot like tonight’s opponent, the New York Mets.

The Mets strike out the second-fewest in baseball at just 8.10 time per contest. But the old adage goes, great pitching beats great hitting. And the Mets aren’t even hitting that great.

Glasnow, on the other hand, is dealing. The right-hander has been fantastic through the early part of 2021, pitching to a 2.37 ERA and a 0.89 WHIP. But most impressive is his 13.7 strikeouts per nine innings.

We're getting a number of 8.5 because the Mets don’t strike out a ton, but that shouldn’t matter for Glasnow. He’s had nine or more strikeouts in five of his last seven starts, which includes games against the Angels, Blue Jays and Red Sox, all of which rank in the Top 10 in strikeout rate. That makes this value too good to pass up.

Giancarlo Stanton Over 1.5 Total Bases (-110)

Giancarlo Stanton’s hot streak may have tapered off, but he is still one of the most reliable bats going for what's been an inconsistent New York Yankees offense this season. Stanton will look to carry the load as he and the Yanks visit the Baltimore Orioles Friday night.

Stanton has crushed Orioles pitching this season, going 14-31 (.452) with two home runs and six RBIs in seven games against them, going over 1.5 total bases in all seven of those games.

Next up on Stanton’s hit list is Dean Kremer. The right-hander has a 6.23 ERA and a 1.54 WHIP over six starts this season, and Stanton has gone 3-5 against Kremer in 2021. Feel confident betting Stanton to go Over his total bases prop in this one.

Aaron Civale Under 4.5 Hits Allowed (-130)

There are some things to look forward to when it comes to the Seattle Mariners’ future. But for today, things are a little rough, as the team has arguably the MLB’s worst offense.

The M’s rank dead last in batting average at just .201 and are 29th in OPS and 21st in scoring. And now they have to deal with Cleveland’s strong pitching staff.

Aaron Civale takes the ball for Cleveland in this one and the right-hander has put in some good work this season. Civale uses a good mix of pitches that are hard to barrel up. As a result, he has pitched to a 2.91 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and is limiting opponents to a .207 batting average.

On top of that, Civale has allowed five or fewer hits in five of his seven starts this season, which makes this number all the better.
