Tigers vs Blue Jays Prediction, Picks, & Odds for Today’s MLB Game

Toronto's offense has been running cold for some time now and with a streaking Tigers starter taking the mound, our MLB betting picks don't expect that to change on Sunday.

The Detroit Tigers were victorious against the Toronto Blue Jays in their first game back from the All-Star break and will look to keep rolling as they’re now 9-2 in their last 11 outings. Reese Olson will take the mound for Detroit and he’s been excellent over his last five outings, posting a 3-0 record over that span.

Can the Blue Jays solve Olson and the Tigers? Find out in my MLB picks and Blue Jays vs. Tigers predictions for Saturday, July 20.

Tigers vs Blue Jays prediction

My best bet
Blue Jays team total Under 3.5 (+110 at PROLINE+)

My analysis
Mark Canha and Wenceel Perez each hit a two-run homer on Friday to help the Detroit Tigers defeat the Toronto Blue Jays 5-4 in their first game back from the All-Star break. The Jays tried to rally late with two runs in the eighth inning but ultimately fell short.

Toronto has now scored four runs or fewer in nine of its last 15 games and I’ll be banking on the Jays to have another quiet offensive outing against a streaking Tigers starter in Reese Olson.

The right-hander went through a rough stretch in early June, giving up a combined 17 earned runs in three starts from June 1-12, but he’s settled in nicely since. Olsen has held the opposition to two runs or fewer in four of his last five outings while recording a stingy 2.40 ERA over that span.

While the Blue Jays rank sixth-last in the majors in runs per game this season (4.06), they’ve been even worse at home with their 181 total runs scored sitting 28th among all clubs. It doesn’t help that two of their top hitters — Davis Schneider and Bo Bichette — have combined for just three RBI in July while the latter exited Friday’s game with a calf injury.

Blue Jays star player prop

My best bet
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Over 0.5 RBI (+138 at PROLINE+)

After a scorching month of June, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. slowed down at the beginning of July with just two RBI through his first eight games. Vladdy has picked up the pace again, though, notching three RBI in his final four contests before the All-Star break and then adding a two-run homer in last night’s series opener.

Over the last 30 days, Guerrero Jr. ranks second in the majors with 27 RBI behind only Alec Burleson of the Cardinals (28). With five RBI in his last five contests, Vladdy looks on pace to pick up another this afternoon.
