My analysis
With just one career MLB start to his name, there's little to go by for Ky Bush.
What we do know is pretty simple and two-fold. He's a left-handed fastball thrower whose four-seamer made up nearly 60% of his pitches in his first start against the Oakland A's and even more during his time in the minors.
Both of these things are music to the ears of Aaron Judge — the best fastball hitter in baseball.
He'll enter today with easily the highest run value against fastballs at +24 while sitting eighth in hard-hit rate amongst qualified hitters and first in slugging percentage. Need more convincing? Over 70% of his HRs in 2024 have been off fastball pitches. The other part of this is Bush is a lefty. Judge crushes southpaws, with his barrel rate almost at 20% against them this season.
The biggest drawback is if Judge sees many competitive pitches, but even with that in the foreground, it's difficult to ignore this number. Bush will be making just his second Major League appearance and it's coming against the Bombers... welcome to the show, kid.

Bush looked out of his depth against the A's in his first start, and I'm not expecting that to get better against a team with so much talent.
