Xfinity 500 pre-race favorites
Chase Elliott (+650)
Elliott still stands as the most likely driver to win the season-long title at most sportsbooks, and a win at Martinsville would certainly go a long way to bolstering his chances.
He enters this weekend third in the points standings, though he hasn't logged a Top-10 finish since his win at Talladega a month ago. He has both a win and a runner-up in Martinsville in the past three years, and he'll be hungry to deliver on a season where he's largely looked like the best driver in NASCAR.
Denny Hamlin (+700)
Hamlin's caught fire over the season's second half after a frigid start with the new car. Steadily climbing the standings but seldom truly in contention, he'll need a big showing in the Xfinity 500 to push him into the Final 4.
He's only finished outside of the Top 10 once in the past eight races, and while he's a five-time winner at Martinsville —including a three-peat stretch in 2009-10 — none have been since 2015.
William Byron (+800)
Byron sits opposite Hamlin on the playoff bubble, holding onto the crucial No. 4 spot that dictates playoff mortality this weekend.
While Byron started the playoffs hot with four straight Top-10 finishes, he's finished in the teens in four straight races which, while avoiding an outright disaster, doesn't inspire a ton of confidence.
But Byron won Martinsville's spring race and had Top-5 finishes in both last year's races here, so he gets credit on this track, combined with the urgency he's sure to be feeling with one of NASCAR's steadiest veterans trailing him.
How to bet on NASCAR
The most popular way to bet on NASCAR is by simply picking the winner of a race, which is also referred to as an outright. There are plenty of other ways to wager, including betting on whether or not a driver will finish in the Top 3 or Top 10 of a race.
Another popular betting option is head-to-head matchup betting, where sportsbooks pair up two drivers and you choose who you think will finish better in the race, which is far easier than trying to select someone to win out of a field of approximately 40 drivers.
