The Indiana Pacers will look to extend a two-game winning streak as they host the Los Angeles Clippers at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Sunday afternoon.

Los Angeles has struggled on the road as of late, and I’m taking Indiana to cover at home in my Clippers vs. Pacers predictions.

I’ll take a closer look at this matchup and throw in a same-game parlay featuring Tyrese Haliburton in my free NBA picks for Sunday, February 23.

Clippers vs Pacers prediction

My best bet
Pacers -3.5 (-110 at bet365)

My analysis
Both the Los Angeles Clippers and the Indiana Pacers are fighting for playoff position and will be playing their best possible lineups as often as possible down the stretch. However, one of these teams looks healthier than the other heading into this matchup.

Indiana has recently seen Myles Turner return to the lineup following a neck injury. Turner scored 17 points and added 10 rebounds while blocking seven shots against the Memphis Grizzlies on Thursday, immediately providing the kind of interior presence the team sorely missed while he nursed his injury. With Pascal Siakam (20.6 ppg), Tyrese Haliburton (17. 9 ppg), and Bennedict Mathurin (16.6 ppg) all healthy and ready to go, the Pacers are more-or-less whole for Sunday’s game.

It's not clear that the Clippers are in the same situation. Leading scorer Norman Powell (24.2 ppg) is questionable with left knee soreness, while Kawhi Leonard (16.9 ppg) is also questionable due to a left foot injury. Losing either of those players would significantly impact Los Angeles’ ability to compete in Indiana, and any limitations on their availability will be a problem for the Clippers.

The Clips have generally played a lower-scoring brand of basketball this year. Los Angeles has two outstanding defenders in Leonard and center Ivica Zubac, and that has kept them in games even as they average a relatively low 110.9 ppg.

But if Leonard is hobbled at all, that will significantly limit the Los Angeles defensively, particularly on the perimeter. And while Zubac has been outstanding, a healthy Turner will test him in the post. Indiana ranks ninth in offensive rating this season and has a wealth of options that can score the ball from any part of the court.

Los Angeles is on the first half of a back-to-back tonight, as it will travel to Detroit to play the Pistons on Monday before more road games on Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday. That’s a busy schedule that might tempt Tyronn Lue to rest his ailing stars now to ensure they’re healthy for the rest of the road trip.

But even if he doesn’t, we’ve already seen the Pacers beat the Clippers in Los Angeles two weeks ago, in a game where Turner was limited and the Clippers had both Leonard and Powell healthy. I’m confident that Indiana can do even better tonight at home, covering the 3.5-point spread.

Clippers vs Pacers same-game parlay

Pacers -3.5

Over 230.5

Tyrese Haliburton 15+ points

Along with taking the Pacers to cover today, I’m also going to throw in a bet on the Over for my same-game parlay. Indiana regularly plays games that end at 230+ points, and while Los Angeles doesn’t normally play to those lofty totals, it has hit the Over in four of its last five games, including the last matchup between these two teams.

I’m also going to take Tyrese Haliburton to score at least 15 points tonight. Haliburton has averaged 17.9 ppg this year, and has hit the 15-point mark in each of his last four games. It’s a fairly safe bet that he’ll do so again tonight and add a little value to our SGP.

Successful sports betting is about consistently beating the closing line value, which requires finding spots where one book is offering odds far better than the rest of the market and jumping on those opportunities.
