Bam Adebayo is a constant force on both sides of the ball, and will be putting extra pressure on a short-handed Hawks squad that Miami is battling for playoff position with.

Against the spread (ATS) pick

The Hawks have completely turned things around since Nate McMillan took over as head coach, but getting somewhat healthy was also a significant factor. Now, Atlanta is dealing with some troublesome injuries again, as Trae Young suffered a pretty serious ankle sprain in Wednesday’s loss to New York. Young isn’t likely to miss too much time, but it’s pretty hard to imagine him returning to the court before next week. And even if he did, his trademark quickness likely wouldn’t be there, making this matchup with Miami a difficult one.

The Heat are coming into this contest on a three-game winning streak, and they covered the spread in all of those victories. Bam Adebayo has been remarkable for the Heat all season, and he’ll now go head-to-head with Clint Capela, who has been a revelation for the Hawks this year. The only problem for Capela is that Adebayo is one of the most skilled bigs in the league, and he also has a relentless motor. He takes every matchup against another top big personally, and he should make his presence felt here. Capela is one of the NBA’s best offensive rebounders, but Adebayo should hold his own on the glass.

Atlanta also does not have an answer for Jimmy Butler right now. The team is without most of its best perimeter defenders, so Butler should have his fingerprints all over this one. Lately, he has been doing a lot of his damage as a passer, but he usually does whatever is needed of him.

PREDICTION: Heat -4.5 (-110)

Over/Under pick

The Heat have really turned things up a notch defensively over the course of their winning streak, as they are allowing just 100.7 points per 100 possessions over the last three games. Miami now gets to take on an Atlanta team that could be without Young, one of the NBA’s most lethal offensive players. Without Young’s creation skills, the Hawks could struggle to put up a lot of points here. Also, Atlanta is solid defensively under McMillan, so the team should give Miami some problems.

PREDICTION: Under 213.5 (-110)
