Heat vs Timberwolves prediction

My best bet
Timberwolves -7.5 (-110 at bet365)

My analysis

Things have been tough for Erik Spoelstra and the Miami Heat in the last week, losing three straight to playoff-caliber teams. Their latest loss was by a double-digit margin to the Nuggets, giving up 135 points in the process.

Miami has been uncharacteristically lacking in defense, ranking 20th in defensive rating after finishing fifth last year. On Sunday, they will have the challenge of containing the Minnesota Timberwolves, who rank fifth in offensive rating.

The Heat have been particularly awful at defending the three, as their 37.7% allowed ranks fifth-worst this year. Minnesota has shot 40.6% from deep this year, trailing only the undefeated Cavaliers in that category.

The Heat have also struggled on the glass, ranking 23rd in rebounding rate. That also does not bode well for them as the Timberwolves have ranked 12th so far this year.

Quite simply, if Miami's struggles on defense and the glass continue tonight, the Timberwolves should have no issue building a gradual lead through the game that could even reach blowout levels.

Heat vs Timberwolves same-game parlay

Timberwolves -7.5

Bam Adebayo Under 9.5 rebounds

Terry Rozier Under 1.5 turnovers

To take advantage of the rebounding mismatch, we should look towards Bam Adebayo.

The Timberwolves allow the fifth-fewest rebounds to opposing centers. His rebounding total at 9.5 seems a touch high given the matchup, as he tallied just six and three rebounds, respectively, in two games against the Wolves last year.

But one place where the Timberwolves do not find success is at the point guard position, where they force the second-fewest turnovers in the league.

That may mean an easier night for Terry Rozier, who had his fair share of turnovers in the opening month but has since cleaned things up.
