How about the New York Knicks? They are catching a Golden State Warriors team that is far from their championship self tonight, but New York will have its hands full in attempting to slow down Steph Curry at home. In what seemed like the ultimate apocalypse scenario to its season when it embarking on a frightening road trip, N.Y. has found a way to persevere and win back-to-back games.

The Dubs — who are 0-8 on the road — have to be relieved they have a chance to get back in the W column since they're back home for this matchup. Will the visitors win three straight, or can former champs get back on track?

Knicks vs Warriors picks and predictions

What Steph Curry has been doing to start the 2022-2023 regular season is incredible. The future Hall of Fame point guard is the greatest shooter of all time, and he continues to add to his legacy with his utter dominance on the offense side of the ball.

Curry is a matchup-proof option against any opponent. With the reality kicking in that Klay Thompson may not be at the same level offensively, Curry is relied on more than ever to fill up the score sheet.

On Wednesday, Curry dropped 50 points on 17-for-28 shooting. It's becoming predictable watching the Warriors. Everyone not named Steph will try to get involved early, to no avail, and Curry will take over from there. This game should be no different, and New York poses no serious threat to maintaining Curry from scoring anytime he likes.

The Knicks will throw several looks at Curry. Jalen Brunson, who drew the Curry assignment plenty during the Dallas Mavericks and Warriors Western Conference Finals Series, will have his hands full. Cam Reddish and RJ Barrett will likely see time defending Steph, but New York doesn't have anyone to slow down this train. Nobody in the NBA does.

Here's something to consider if you think Curry may slow down. First, it's the Knicks. The 34-year-old rarely passes up an opportunity to show out against the team he was nearly drafted to in 2009 — averaging 25.5 points against them in 22 career games. Second, he's on a historic pace that doesn't figure to slow down anytime soon.

Curry is currently 21st in the NBA in usage percentage and second in the NBA in scoring (32.8 ppg). Additionally, he has a 70.1 TS%, the best percentage of any NBA player averaging over 15 points per game.

Curry may score another 40-plus tonight.

My best bet: Curry Over 29.5 points (-115)

Knicks vs Warriors spread analysis

It's been a confusing season for the champions, who have established two identities. They are a dominant home team and a laughable road team.

The Knicks won't be fortunate to face the struggling road Warriors. Instead, they'll encounter them at home and on the third game of a long road trip. They've been hammered this year by star players, and tonight should be no different. New York has looked better as of late, playing more spirited defense, but that was against the Utah Jazz and Denver Nuggets without Nikola Jokic.

Another critical factor is Julius Randle. He will have Draymond Green on his hip the entire night. Randle won't be able to bully his way to easy points or rebounds. Tonight has the makings of a classic Green game, where he makes it a point to erase the opposing team's top option. The Knicks will battle and hang in there for a while before the Warriors ultimately push out ahead in this one.

Knicks vs Warriors Over/Under analysis

The Warriors are dangerous at home, scoring a scorching 121.9 ppg (third-most in the NBA). The production has much to do with Curry and his incredible scoring output nightly. For the Knicks, this spells bad news, as they give up the eighth most points per game to opposing point guards (25.9).

New York has struggled on the perimeter, which can also mean a big game for Jordan Poole, who has been extremely streaky this season. Poole scored 36 points against San Antonio and followed it up with a two-point dud against Phoenix. Tonight will be an opportunity for the 23-year-old to get back in the flow of things.

While the Knicks likely won't be able to keep up offensively, they should score their fair share of points. Golden State's 26th-ranked defensive rating has a lot to do with Klay Thompson's declining production, and the younger players on the team not getting it done. With Curry bombing away from three, if he gets a bit of help from Poole tonight, this one will likely hit the Over.
