Lakers vs Heat Odds, Picks, and Predictions Tonight: The Lake Show Finally Performs on the Road

LeBron James will look to push the Lakers toward their first road win of the season in his old South Beach stomping grounds. While the 0-3 mark away from home is rough, it might be overblown considering how they've generally performed.

LeBron James takes his talents back to South Beach tonight as the L.A. Lakers battle the Miami Heat, looking for their first road win of the year.

The Lakers dropped to 0-3 away from Crypto.com Arena with Saturday’s 120-101 loss to the Orlando Magic, despite LeBron and Anthony Davis combining for 52 points, and the latest NBA odds have the visitors as the slightest of underdogs.

More sharpshooting from Tyler Herro helped the Heat snap a four-game skid on Friday in a 121-114 win over the Washington Wizards, but Miami continues to face injury question marks with Jimmy Butler probable tonight despite a nagging knee issue.

Lakers vs Heat predictions

While it’s not on the level of a homecoming in Cleveland, any LeBron James game back in Miami is generally must-see TV as he pits his wits against his former head coach Erik Spoelstra.

The Los Angeles Lakers head into tonight’s contest as a work in progress and it’s tough to glean much from their 3-3 record. But L.A.’s winless start on the road feels overblown — two of those losses came against the reigning champion Denver Nuggets (opening night) and in overtime against the Sacramento Kings.

I’m expecting a strong response from the Lakers after their most underwhelming performance of the year in Orlando last weekend, including an embarrassing first quarter where they gave up 39 points. For a team that prides itself on defense, the film sessions will have been rough. The Miami Heat may be about to feel the backlash.

James should have an extra edge back in Miami and, though the visitors have hardly been lights out offensively, they’ve got more scoring threats than a veteran Heat team that seems to be feeling its way into the season after losing Gabe Vincent (now with the Lakers) and Max Strus this summer.

There’s not been a lot to love in the host's 2-4 start and I see the Lakers stifling a Miami offense that’s averaging just 107.3 points a game so far.

That sets up James to lead the way to a first road win of the year, and I’m grabbing the even money odds for the L.A. moneyline.

Lakers vs Heat same-game parlay

Lakers moneyline

Tyler Herro Over 23.5 points

Anthony Davis Under 25.5 points

I’m adding a couple of tasty points props to the Lakers moneyline in this SGP. It starts with Tyler Herro, who’s leading the Heat with 25.8 points per game this season and had two games with 30 or more points before a 24-point effort against the Wizards on Friday. With a green light to get shots up, give me the Over on the Herro points prop here.

I’m also fading the Anthony Davis points prop for a tough one-on-one battle against Bam Adebayo. With more favorable matchups to exploit on the perimeter, the Lakers may not rely quite so much on Davis’ scoring tonight.

Lakers vs Heat spread and Over/Under analysis

Miami gets the nod as a narrow favorite in this 2020 NBA Finals rematch, but I’ve already made the case for L.A. coming in and taking care of business after the sting of a blowout loss on Saturday.

Though the Heat are 6-4 in the last 10 meetings against the Lakers, the teams have split the last four matchups and the visitors carry a little more form into tonight’s clash, particularly after a gutsy 130-125 overtime win in last week’s Battle of L.A.

D’Angelo Russell looms as the biggest swing factor tonight after a dismal 4-for-17 shooting effort, including 1-for-10 from deep, against the Magic. When he’s in a rhythm, like he was in a 27-point night against the Clippers, DLo can be the crucial third scorer the Lakers need.

This also feels like a game for LeBron to go mismatch hunting. The Heat are going to have minus defenders on the floor — whether it’s Herro or Duncan Robinson — and no one is better at finding them than James.

The Under is 6-4 for both teams in their last 10 outings, and their two meetings last year both cashed the Under. It would be no surprise if tonight’s game follows a similar script.

With Davis and Bam Adebayo anchoring the back lines, there’ll be nothing easy in the paint, and a line of 222.5 feels about right given that Miami has been held to 105 points or fewer three times already this season.

Lakers vs Heat betting trend to know

For all the noise about recent road defeats, the Lakers have been a strong third-quarter team on their travels. Dating back to last season, they’ve hit the 3Q moneyline in 22 of their last 33 road games. Find more NBA betting trends for Lakers vs. Heat.
