My analysis
The Milwaukee Bucks are favored by 10.5 for -110 in the NBA odds, but I’m not satisfied settling there. We can do better, and I’m taking the alternative spread for a more profitable payout.
The hits keep coming for the Dallas Mavericks as Kyrie Irving suffered a season-ending torn ACL in Monday’s loss to Sacramento. The team also lost Jaden Hardy, who suffered a right ankle sprain in the same game.
PJ Washington is sidelined, and the big man trio of Anthony Davis, Dereck Lively II and Daniel Gafford remains out for the foreseeable future, leaving the Mavericks without key scorers, playmakers, and rebounders across the roster. Not counting Davis or Kai Jones (who have played just one game apiece for Dallas), the team will be without three of its six leading scorers and all of its five best rebounders.
The situation in Dallas has gone from bad to worse following the Luka Doncic trade, and the numbers back up that assertion. The Mavs rank 10th in offensive rating on the season at 114.4 but since the break, the team has sunk to 28th at 105. Dallas’ net rating of 0.9 ranks 16th on the season, but the team is -9 across its last six, good for 26th.
After such a disastrous month since Doncic was traded, the latest injury to Kyrie surely has Dallas looking ahead to next season. Milwaukee is playing at full strength tonight in front of the home crowd, and this matchup has all the makings of a blowout.

Dallas’ frontcourt rotation is decimated, and I expect Giannis Antetokounmpo to thrive in this matchup. He’s averaged 13.2 rebounds across his last five, hitting the Over twice and grabbing 12 rebounds in one more. Since the break, no team has allowed more rebounds than the Mavericks, setting Antetokounmpo up to comfortably clear this line.
Post Luka trade, Irving carried the short-handed Mavs with his elite scoring but the Mavericks are going to have a tough time putting up points without him on the court. Dallas’ offense has been dreadful since the break, and Milwaukee’s defense has been elite. The Bucks should win in a blowout, limiting the scoring total and driving the Under.
