My analysis
The Brooklyn Nets will once again look to slow down the pace, muck up the game, and make life difficult for the opposing offense.
That’s been the team’s recipe for success across its last eight games. In that span, the Nets have won and covered six times, and I expect them to cover again tonight.
The spread for Saturday’s matchup is skewed comically high in favor of the home team, but there’s no reason the Nets should be spotted 11 points. I’m hammering the Nets at +11.
Brooklyn is 18-9-1 ATS on the road this season, 17-9-1 as the road dog, and 25-21-1 as the underdog. The Nets are just 8-12 as double-digit underdogs, but they’re 1-1 in that situation over their last two and came just half a point shy of covering against Cleveland.
The Philadelphia 76ers have been horrendous against the spread this season, particularly at home. The Sixers are 20-35 ATS overall, but the team is 9-18-1 at home.
That includes a dreadful 1-11 mark as the home favorite and a 0-3 mark when favored by 10 points or more. The Sixers have been favored in 23 games this season, and the team is just 7-16 ATS in those contests.
Philly is just 2-7 ATS across its last nine, and the team is 1-8 straight up in that span. The Nets and 76ers are trending in opposite directions heading into the home stretch of the 2024-25 season, and I’m happy to bet on Brooklyn keeping this one within 11 points.
Even with Joel Embiid on the court, the Sixers’ offense has struggled mightily. Tyrese Maxey has been the lone bright spot, while Paul George has been a massive disappointment.
An already-thin 76ers roster has been hampered by injuries, adding to the offensive woes.
Brooklyn’s defense is the top unit in the Association across the last eight games, and it should be able to hold the Sixers in check while scoring enough to cover the spread on the road.

Thanks to a much-improved defense, Brooklyn has been so competitive across its last eight games. Despite dropping Thursday’s matchup with Cleveland, the Nets still held the NBA’s top offensive unit to just 110 points.
Brooklyn has allowed only 111 points per game this season (eighth-fewest), but over the last eight? The Nets have surrendered only 97.3 points per game, and they’re the only team that has allowed under 100 in that span.
Philly’s offense ranks 26th in points scored per game, so tonight’s clash is set up to be a low-scoring affair.
If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. This is an easy call for a player who’s averaging a career-best 19.1 points per game this season. Johnson is Brooklyn’s second-leading scorer, and top scorer Cam Thomas will be sidelined for at least one more game.
Johnson has hit the Over on this line in 28 of 40 games this season and nine of his last 10. Don’t overthink it here.
