Just when you thought the Brooklyn Nets were getting past their on-court issues, they go out and put up a dud against the Lakers. Now the Nets continue their west coast road trip when they head to Sacramento to take on the Kings on Tuesday night.

Meanwhile, the Kings come into this matchup feeling pretty good about themselves. The team is riding a three-game winning streak which includes a win over the defending champion Warriors.

Can a porous Nets defense slow down a clicking Kings attack? I break it all down and bring you my best bet in our free NBA picks and predictions for the Nets vs. Kings on November 15.

Nets vs Kings best odds

Nets vs Kings picks and predictions

The Nets have been able to focus a little more on the court recently and had been playing a little better prior to their last loss to the Lakers, winning four of their previous five games.

Kevin Durant has obviously been a big catalyst for Brooklyn. The superstar is averaging 28 points, 8 rebounds, and 6.5 assists over his last six games. The Nets have also been getting solid contributions from guys like Nick Claxton and Seth Curry

Tuesday night, they’ll face off against a Kings team that has taken on a defense-is-optional mentality of late. Sacramento ranks 27th in defensive rating, 29th in opponent field goal percentage, and 24th in scoring defense, giving up 116.7 points per game.

To be fair, though, the Kings are putting in a ton of effort on offense. Domantas Sabonis and De'Aaron Fox lead the Kings’ attack, but Kevin Huerter, Malik Monk, and Co. give this offense a dynamic look. As a result, they rank sixth in offensive rating, third in effective field goal percentage, and seventh in 3-point shooting percentage.

Now they get to go against a Nets defense that has been average at best. Where they really get worked is on the perimeter and on the glass. Brooklyn ranks 27th in opponent 3-point shooting percentage and 29th in rebounding rate. The lowly Lakers took advantage of this in their last meeting, and that is not a good recipe against a team that has the combination of Sabonis and shooting ability.

This game should be a fun one, and I’ll be betting it to go Over the total of 226.

My best bet: Over 226 (-110 at Caesars)

Nets vs Kings spread analysis

It’s kind of crazy to think there’s a game where Durant is an underdog against the Kings, even on the road. But here we are. It’s even crazier that the money is fading KD at this point. The Nets opened this matchup as 1-point road underdogs and were bet to +3 before getting some buyback and settling at +2 as of Tuesday afternoon.

The Nets were the ultimate fade to start the season, going 1-7 against the spread through their first eight games, but went 4-0-1 before the loss to the Lakers. Meanwhile, the Kings have been one of the best teams to back in the NBA all season, going 9-3 ATS for the season.

It’s hard not to like the Kings to cover another spread here. The Nets' recent wins have come against the Clippers, Knicks, Hornets, and Wizards, who aren't exactly the toughest of competition. Brooklyn is also coming off a game where they were dominated by Anthony Davis, so Sabonis should be in line for a big game here.

The only thing that gives me pause before firing on the Kings is that the Nets are getting some players back, plus the fact that Durant is facing a weak defense. If he can get going, the Nets will have a chance to win. So, I’ll stay away.

Nets vs Kings Over/Under analysis

The total for this matchup hit the board at 224, and the early money has come in on the Over, bumping the number up to the current 226. As I’ve already stated, I’m not sure that number is high enough.

The Nets have been an Under machine of late, thanks mostly to a disappointing offense. However, if there is a team they can get going against, it’s the Kings. Sacramento has allowed a minimum of 114 points in each of their last five games.

Meanwhile, the Kings’ style of offense is perfect for taking advantage of the Nets' weaknesses beyond the arc and on the boards. As I said, I’m betting the Over here with relative confidence.
