With the playoffs in sight, it’s no surprise to see the Miami Heat powering into form, and they’ll look to pad their record tonight against a Detroit Pistons team that’s weighed down by a 9-51 record.
The Heat are big favorites in the NBA odds and they’ve been good lately, winning six of their last seven contests, including a 126-120 win over the Utah Jazz on Saturday led by Jimmy Butler’s 37-point night.
The nightmare continues for the Pistons — and there’s no sign of Detroit finishing the season with a better stretch. The visitors have dropped eight of their past nine games and slumped to a 113-91 loss to the Orlando Magic over the weekend.

Pistons vs Heat odds
Pistons vs Heat predictions
For all of Jimmy Butler’s “Jimmy Buckets” magic, the Miami Heat aren’t going to make a deep postseason run without steady offense from Bam Adebayo too. It’s no coincidence that Miami’s impressive run has come in tandem with Bam’s offense clicking into gear.
Adebayo’s jump shot has looked smoother lately and he shot 56% from the floor in February, up from 48% in January. The numbers speak for themselves — he’s had 22 or more points in five of his past six contests, including a 10-for-15 effort against the Jazz over the weekend.
I’m jumping on the Bam bandwagon for a points prop that feels generous given the Detroit Pistons’ frontcourt allowed Paolo Banchero and Wendell Carter Jr. to combine for 48 points on Sunday.
I see Adebayo getting the upper hand against Jalen Duren and Isaiah Stewart in that battle, and his midrange game is benefitting from the spacing that Duncan Robinson and Terry Rozier provide in the starting lineup.
With Tyler Herro out, the hosts are a little light on shot-making, and that should pave the way for Adebayo to put up an efficient shooting night.
My best bet: Bam Adebayo Over 21.5 points (-125 at PROLINE+)
Pistons vs Heat same-game parlay
I see a big game from Adebayo translating to a lopsided Heat win, so I’m building my SGP around Miami covering this large spread. The hosts are 9-1 ATS in their past 10 games and they recorded three double-digit wins in their last five outings.
Though the Pistons’ athleticism could hurt the Heat in transition, I’m backing Erik Spoelstra’s men to withstand that threat and wear Detroit down. This is a tough spot for any young team — especially one coming off a free night in Miami.
The Heat’s surge since just before All-Star break has owed plenty to strong defensive outings, and that makes the Under an appealing pick tonight. Miami scored fewer than 110 points in four of its last five games in February but still went 4-1 in that stretch.
The Under is 7-3 in the Heat’s past 10 games and it’s been even more consistent for the Pistons, with a 9-1 mark in that same span.

Pistons vs Heat spread and Over/Under analysis
The Pistons are routinely a double-digit underdog on the road against playoff-caliber teams and tonight is no different as they face a Miami team eying a run to the No. 4 seed.
There’s not much left for the visitors to play for this year beyond developing their young core, but Cade Cunningham and Jaden Ivey were both quiet against the Magic on Sunday as Evan Fournier led the team in scoring.
Miami’s recent hot streak includes victories over the Sacramento Kings, New Orleans Pelicans and Milwaukee Bucks — a timely reminder of this team’s high ceiling when we get to the business end of the season. With quality bench minutes from Caleb Martin and Jaime Jaquez Jr., that could be where the hosts pull away tonight.
The Heat have won eight of the past 10 meetings, including a 103-102 scrap back in October in the teams’ season opener, but it’s worth noting that the Pistons are 7-2-1 ATS in those head-to-head matchups.
As for the total, the Under has cashed in Detroit’s last nine games, in part due to some woeful 3-point shooting. The visitors average just 11 triples per contest — the second-worst mark in the NBA.
The Heat’s offense has been up and down, pouring in more than 120 points four times in their last 10 games, but also falling short of 107 points on four occasions. So I expect them to lean into their defensive identity and stifle a Pistons team that’s scored 105 points or fewer in each of their last three outings.
