Today’s best NBA player props
Mo boards mo problems
Evan Mobley has stood tall in the absence of fellow twin tower Jarrett Allen and the Cleveland Cavaliers rookie will look to continue to do so when he and his squad host LeBron James and the sputtering Los Angeles Lakers.
Mobley, who is already the betting favorite to win the NBA Rookie of the Year, has picked up his game even further ever since Allen broke his finger a few weeks ago. He has gone from 15.2 points and 8.3 rebounds per game to 20 points and 10.6 boards in the eight games since Allen got hurt.
Now, he’ll get a great matchup against the Lakers. L.A. is just 3-10 straight up since the All-Star break and the team has looked lost without Anthony Davis. In fact, over that stretch, it ranks 27th in net rating and 28th in defensive rating. Simply put, this defense has no teeth without AD.
Not having Davis sure has hurt the Lakers on the glass as well. Los Angeles ranks 28th in both rebounding percentage and opponent rebounds per game over the last 13 games.
With Mobley playing big minutes as the Cavs go-to big man and hauling down 11 or more rebounds five times over the eight games without him, he looks like a solid bet to eclipse his rebounding total here in this matchup.
Pick: Evan Mobley Over 10.5 rebounds (-110)
Red hot Scottie
We go from one Rookie of the Year candidate to another. Toronto Raptors’ forward Scottie Barnes has come on strong in the second half of the season, winning Rookie of the Month in February, and has been on an absolute tear since the All-Star break. Barnes will look to stay hot when the Raptors visit the Chicago Bulls on Monday night.
The Raps’ rookie is averaging 19.3 points while shooting 54.2% from the floor adding 8.6 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.6 steals per game in the 14 games since coming out of the break. So, yeah. He’s done it all for Toronto.
Now, he gets a great matchup against a Bulls team that while it can put up points with the best of them, continues to struggle on the defensive end. The Bulls are just 3-10 over their last 13 and rank 21st in defensive rating while giving up 115.5 points per game. They also rank 24th in rebounding percentage over that stretch.
But really, Chicago just doesn’t have anyone who can match up well with someone who has the size and athleticism of Barnes, so, he should be primed for another big game. His points + rebounds total is 24.5 for this one, a number he’s gone Over nine times in the last 14 games.
Pick: Scottie Barnes Over 24.5 points + rebounds (-115)
Luka magic
Luka Doncic should probably be getting a little more MVP love than he is getting at the moment. The Dallas Mavericks star guard is putting on a show night in, night out, as he leads his team up the standings in the Western Conference.
Now, he’ll look to put some distance between the Mavs and tonight’s opponent the Minnesota Timberwolves, who sit just a game and a half back of Dallas.
Over 21 games since the end of January, while leading the Mavs to a 15-6 record, Doncic is averaging 32.9 points with 9.7 rebounds and 8.2 assists per game. And a big part of that success is because he has found his shooting touch once again.
Doncic got off to a dreadful start to the season in terms of his 3-point shooting, but over this 21-game stretch, he is hitting 40.6% of his nearly 10 3-point attempts per game.
Now, the T-wolves' perimeter defense isn’t terrible but it isn’t great either. They rank a solid 12th in opponent 3-point shooting percentage but allow the fifth most 3-point attempts per game.
That means there should be plenty of opportunities for Doncic to go Over his made threes total of 3.5, a number he has eclipsed six times in the last eight games. Getting plus money on it doesn’t hurt either.
Pick: Luka Doncic Over 3.5 made threes (+105)
