Today’s NBA Player Prop Picks: King for a Week

It's regular-season garbage time, when a good chunk of the league stops caring. But players with increased opportunities provide us with some great value for prop betting, like Davion Mitchell, who highlights tonight's player prop picks.

With the NBA season winding down it's an interesting time for player prop betting. While a lot of teams are preparing for the playoffs, others are already looking toward next season. But that can provide us with some value as the reins are let off players who wouldn’t normally get as much of a run.

That’s exactly what's going on in Sacramento, as the Kings will likely close out the season with De’Aaron Fox and Domantas Sabonis riding the pine. But we're getting a great look at rookie Davion Mitchell, who has been on a tear since joining the starting lineup.

Check out our NBA player prop picks for Wednesday, March 30, as we bank on some of the NBA's best under-the-radar players to do their thing.

Torching the hive

While it has been a disappointing season for the New York Knicks, the team has shown some fight down the stretch, winning four in a row. And a part of that has been because of the play of Alec Burks, who has enjoyed his role as a regular starter again. Burks and his teammates will look to stay hot when they host the Charlotte Hornets on Wednesday night.

Burks has found his shooting stroke of late and has been on fire from 3-point range. Over the last six games, he's shooting a ridiculous 47.6% from beyond the arc on seven attempts per game and now he faces a Hornets defense that has more holes on the perimeter than a beehive.

Charlotte is one of the worst teams in the NBA when it comes to defending the 3-ball. The Hornets allow the second-most 3-point attempts per game while ranking 21st in opponent 3-point shooting percentage, allowing teams to hit from deep at a clip of 35.7%.

That means there should be plenty of opportunities for Burks to jack up some more treys and go Over his made threes total of 2.5, a number he has gone over in six consecutive games, which includes going 3-6 against this same Hornets team back on March 23. Getting plus money here is the icing on the cake.

Pick: Alec Burks Over 2.5 made threes (+110)

Putting the Huert on

Kevin Huerter continues to have a hot hand for the Atlanta Hawks and he’ll look to keep letting it soar from deep when he and the Hawks visit the Oklahoma City Thunder tonight.

The Hawks have been dealing with a lot of injuries over the past several weeks with guys in and out of the lineup, and tonight should be no different. John Collins is still out, De'Andre Hunter and Danilo Gallinari are both questionable, and Huerter has taken advantage of his added opportunities.

The Hawks’ shooting guard is shooting 39.3% from 3-point range over his last 11 games on nearly eight attempts per game, and has hit four or more threes six times over that stretch. Huerter has really found his groove the last two games, going a combined 11-22 against the Warriors and Pacers.

Now, he gets a great matchup against a Thunder team that has packed it in for the year. The Thunder were a great bet through the first half of the season thanks to their great defense and play from a few key guys like Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Josh Giddey.

But now every impact player the Thunder have is on the injury report and likely done for the season, and as a result, their defense has taken a hit, particularly on the perimeter.

No one has given up more 3-point attempts per game (41.1) since the All-Star break than the Thunder, while ranking 28th in opponent 3-point shooting percentage over that span. That ain’t great. So bet on another big game from beyond the arc for Huerter.

Pick: Kevin Huerter Over 2.5 made threes (-105)

Fit for a King

Another year gone by and another wasted season for the Sacramento Kings, particularly now with De’Aaron Fox and Domantas Sabonis sidelined, probably for the rest of the season. But there is one benefit to this situation: It’s Davion Mitchell time.

The Kings rookie has gone on a tear since settling in as a starter. He's logging 42.4 minutes per game over the last four games, averaging 24 points and 8.5 assists per. Now, he’ll face a Houston Rockets team on Wednesday that has also waved the white flag on the season.

The Rockets are 20-56 for the year and have decided to give themselves the best chance at a high draft pick, announcing yesterday that they are shutting down both Christian Wood and Eric Gordon for the remainder of the season.

That’s not great news for a Rockets team that ranked dead last in the NBA in net rating. They also ranked next to last in defensive rating, 23rd when it comes to points allowed to opposing guards, and 25th in opponent assists per game.

With all the injuries the Kings are dealing, with there’s no reason to think Mitchell won’t get a good run tonight even against a bad Rockets team. Bet on another big game for the kid from Baylor.

Pick: Davion Mitchell Over 28.5 points + assists (-120)

It’s not an interesting story. Seriously.
