What a weekend. Luka Doncic is now a Laker, De’Aaron Fox has joined the San Antonio Spurs, and this new week tips off with 10 games on the schedule.
That means there is plenty of value to be found in the NBA player props market and I’ve done all the work to bring you my favorite three for today, including one affected by one of those big trades.
Here are my NBA picks for Monday, Feb. 3.
Best NBA player props today
- Hardaway 3+ rebounds (+165 at bet365)
- Brunson o2.5 threes (+150 at bet365)
- Monk o7.5 assists (+115 at bet365)
NBA player props for February 3
Tim Hardaway Jr 3+ rebounds (+165 at bet365)
Having lost eight straight, the Atlanta Hawks enter tonight’s matchup with the Detroit Pistons sitting in eighth place in the Eastern Conference.
Now, injuries have played a huge role here. The Hawks recently got the terrible news that Jalen Johnson will miss the remainder of the season with a shoulder injury while starting center Clint Capela is out with a back issue. Mix in star point guard Trae Young dealing with an Achilles injury and you can see why the Hawks are struggling.
Without Johnson and Capela, the Hawks are missing their two best rebounders and will be at a serious disadvantage when it comes to cleaning the glass, considering the Pistons rank sixth in rebounding rate.
Now, banking on Jalen Duren to go Over his rebounds is a little too on the nose here. Plus, he’s got an elevated rebounding total of 11.5 with plenty of juice on the Over. Additionally, with the Hawks likely to go small, it could mean fewer minutes for the Pistons big man.
Instead, let’s look at Tim Hardaway Jr., whose rebounding prop sits at 1.5. THJ is averaging 2.2 rebounds per game but he’s put more work on the boards lately, upping that number to 2.9 over his last 12.
Hardaway has pulled down at least three rebounds in seven of those 12 games, including grabbing six in the Pistons most recent meeting against the Hawks back on Jan. 22.
Not shockingly, the Over 1.5 rebounds is heavily juiced for Hardaway, so instead I’m going with his alt rebounds market where you can get 3+ at +165.
Jalen Brunson Over 2.5 threes (+150 at bet365)
The New York Knicks are coming off a tough loss to the Los Angeles Lakers their last time out, but I’m willing to chalk that up to the potential "LeBron’s final game at Madison Square Garden" narrative.
Otherwise, the Knicks have been playing well, and Jalen Brunson finding one of his patented grooves is a big reason for that.
Brunson has averaged 28.2 points over his last 10 games, going for 30+ five times. He also shoots a ridiculous 45.8% from 3-point range during that stretch.
While Brunson doesn’t jack up as many threes as some of the NBA’s other prominent shooters, his 5.9 attempts with his hot hand are more than enough to have me looking at his made threes prop for tonight’s matchup against the Houston Rockets.
The Rockets are a solid defensive team, but if they have one major hole, it’s allowing opposing guards to shoot threes. Houston ranks 20th in 3-point attempts and 12th in 3-point shooting percentage to opposing guards per game. That results in the 12th most 3-point makes for opposing guards per game in the NBA.
Brunson plays a lot of minutes (thanks Thibs) and should get plenty of opportunities to get up shots in this matchup. He’s hit three or more threes in seven of his last 10 games and oddsmakers are giving us a +150 price tag for Brunson to do it again tonight.
Malik Monk Over 7.5 Assists (+115 at bet365)
The Sacramento Kings begin life without De’Aaron Fox when they visit the Minnesota Timberwolves. Luckily for Sacramento, their other former Kentucky guard looks ready to be the team’s primary playmaker.
Malik Monk is averaging 5.9 assists per game this season, but that number has bumped up to 8.1 over the past 12 games — recording eight or more in eight.
On top of that, this will be Monk’s first game running the show without Fox and he was already logging plenty of minutes before his backcourt mate packed his bags for San Antonio.
The Timberwolves are a solid defensive team but are in a 10-game stretch where they rank 12th in opponent assists per possession. Monk has also put up good assist numbers against other solid defensive teams recently, including Oklahoma City, Houston, and Boston.
Oddsmakers have set Monk’s assists prop at 7.5 for this matchup with the Over sitting at nice plus money. This is a bit of an adjustment without Fox, but not enough to scare me away, particularly at this price.
