Tuesday's NBA slate gives us the usual slim pickings for game selection, with just five matchups on the docket.
But the schedule is definitely taking a quality over quantity approach with tonight's games, which include an always-hyped battle between the Big Apple's two franchises, some Grizzlies-Raptors nostalgia for Canadian NBA fans and Over bettors, and a showdown between the NBA's two best teams — with history on the line.

Bear traps
The Grizzlies visit the Raptors tonight — minus Ja Morant, their superstar-in-the-making PG who's out for a few weeks with a busted knee.
Morant's massive usage will thus be thrust upon the rest of the team, including Jaren Jackson Jr, who has seen his role on offense increase over the past few weeks as he's become more confident with his shot and attack off the dribble.
Jackson's increased confidence will meet its match tonight against a Raptors defense full of long-limbed forwards that can swarm opponents anywhere in the halfcourt. As much as JJJ is becoming a more efficient scorer, he's still prone to the type of semi-controlled forays that can get him into trouble against well-positioned and aggressive defenders.
While their overall defense has slipped considerably in the past couple weeks, the Raptors still force the NBA's second-most turnovers per game and can impose mistakes on players like Jackson, who occasionally bite off more than they can chew.
Between the increased role and defensive matchup, we're counting on Jackson to register multiple turnovers at plus money tonight.
Pick: Jaren Jackson Jr. Over 1.5 turnovers (+110 at bet365)
By the Book
Obviously, we needed to find a prop for tonight's matchup between the NBA's two best teams. Luckily for us, Devin Booker is on one right now.
Phoenix's go-to scorer is averaging 32.3 points on 56 percent shooting in his past three games, taking it upon himself to ensure the Suns break their franchise-record 17-game win streak.
They aim to tie that mark tonight against none other than the Golden State Warriors, who are the NBA's best defensive team this season.
But Booker's a cold-blooded assassin who's been making an increasingly large-sample routine of cooking elite defenses on the biggest stage. His points total sits at 23.5 tonight, so the books are clearly expecting a huge regression against Golden State's D. However, Booker's current form is too thorough and he can be lethal in the mid-range, where Golden State funnels their opponents' attacks.
Book is 6-3 against this total in his past nine games, with one of the Unders being a blowout win over Denver in which he played just 28 minutes and took a season-low 12 shots.
There's zero chance of tonight being a blowout, and with history on the line, back Booker to be bringing his A-game.
Pick: Devin Booker Over 23.5 points (-110 at bet365)
Anthony's Song (Moving In)
If you were an NBA fan on the internet last week, or watch the Lakers with any regularity, you're probably aware that Anthony Davis is having a pretty rough season outside the paint.
A StatMuse tweet went viral last week detailing the Lakers' franchise big man's historic shooting woes, branding him as — bar-none — the worst volume jump-shooter in the league this season.
Davis came out in the media saying that he won't stop shooting, but his shot chart against the Pistons Sunday suggests something far different, with 13 of his 15 attempts coming inside the paint.
The Brow could be getting the hint, especially after he barfed up an 0-for-5 performance from three-point land against tonight's opponent, the Sacramento Kings, last Friday. Davis should be especially motivated to attack the rim against a Kings team that allows an NBA-most 51.9 points in the paint per game.
Davis is paying -110 to get Over 23.5 points, which is a hair below his season average of 24.2. We like the matchup against a team whose defense is a perpetual mess and concedes exactly the buckets Davis should be hunting right now, after being high-profile blasted about his outside touch.
Pick: Anthony Davis Over 23.5 points (-110 at FanDuel)
