The Minnesota Timberwolves still have work to do to avoid the play-in tightrope, and they’ll have their hands full against the Indiana Pacers tonight at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.
Indiana has won four in a row — including a short-handed victory in Minnesota — and my Timberwolves vs Pacers predictions point to another impressive outing from Rick Carlisle’s men.

My best bet: Pacers -2.5 (-110 at bet365)
My analysis
The Indiana Pacers look ready to make some noise in the East. After climbing to the No. 4 seed, Indiana has to believe it can also chase down a New York Knicks team missing Jalen Brunson, and there’s a lot to like about this athletic, versatile roster.
With a 31-14 surge in their last 45 games, the Pacers’ offense is humming. I’m picking the hosts to cover this small spread tonight against a Minnesota Timberwolves team that’s still got questions to answer despite beating up on some weak opponents lately.
Indiana has won four straight games at Gainbridge Fieldhouse where it’s 23-9 this season, and there certainly won’t be any fear for the Pacers in this matchup.
They went to Minnesota earlier this month without Tyrese Haliburton, Pascal Siakam, Myles Turner, and Aaron Nesmith and toppled the Timberwolves in overtime in a matchup where Rudy Gobert and Andrew Nembhard were both ejected.
Though the Pacers are 1-9 ATS in their last 10 contests, I’m not sweating that. It’s largely just the product of some large spreads where they’ve come up short of the number while still taking care of business, and the most encouraging sign is probably Haliburton’s 10-game streak of double-digit assists.
Meanwhile, it’s hard to know what to expect from the visitors. Sure, they’re 20-15 on the road this season, but Anthony Edwards is listed as questionable with a thumb injury, and they slipped to an alarming loss against the New Orleans Pelicans last week. Time is running out to hit top gear for the playoffs.
With the Pacers ripping through defenses and averaging 116.6 ppg (seventh in the NBA), I’m riding with the hosts to make their superior depth count here.

Myles Turners Over 6.5 rebounds
Mike Conley Over 4.5 assists
Myles Turner has put together a nice stretch this month, and he’ll need to be active on the glass against Minnesota’s physical frontcourt. I like the Over on 6.5 rebounds for the Indiana big man tonight, with Turner grabbing 18 boards across his last two contests.
That form is timely, as he’ll be shadowing Gobert for much of the night in a matchup that could be decisive. The Pacers crushed the Brooklyn Nets on the glass last Thursday, with Turner pulling down 10 rebounds, and that’s the kind of activity level I’m expecting here.
I’m also taking the Over on Mike Conley’s assist tally. The Timberwolves always look better when he’s getting them organized on the court, and he had six dimes in just 10 minutes against New Orleans on Friday.
Conley’s days as a consistent scorer are behind him, but he’s finished with five or more assists in four of his last six contests, and this could easily turn into a shootout with Indiana’s preferred up-and-down style.
That paves the way for a big playmaking night for the veteran point guard.
