The first SEC game of the season for both the Auburn Tigers and Texas A&M Aggies will set the tone for the season for both teams looking to improve upon last year.

The Tigers are a perfect 3-0 but will get their first big test with the Aggies, who already have a loss to Miami, FL this season. Can the Tigers cover the spread or even pull off the upset in the college football odds on the road?

Here are our free college football picks and predictions for Auburn vs. Texas A&M at Kyle Field in College Station, TX on Saturday, September 23.

Auburn vs Texas A&M picks and predictions

Auburn is a perfect 3-0, but two of those wins were against teams where they were at least 35-point favorites. The road win came against a Pac 12 team, but it was ugly and they failed to cover the spread. They will need to bring their best to College Station in this step up in competition.

The Tigers have done well in getting off the field on defense and keeping opponents from putting points on the board. The defense ranks 4th in the country in third down percentage (24.4%), 11th in first downs allowed, and best in the nation in red zone defense, allowing only three scores on seven attempts.

However, the Tigers have not faced an offense anywhere near the talent level that Texas A&M possess. They rank 12th in the country averaging 44.0 points per game. They also average 337.3 passing yards per contest (11th) and rank 24th in third down conversion percentage and 11th in first downs gained.

The problem for the Aggies comes on the defensive side of the ball. Against the Miami Hurricanes, the defense allowed 48 points and 451 total yards. 374 of those yards came through the air.

This game sets up nicely for a higher-scoring game than last year, where the Tigers won 13-10 at home. Turnovers have big a big part of Auburn games, as they have seven giveaways and seven takeaways. I like it when games have turnovers for the Over because it typically gives the offense a shorter field than a punt or missed field goal.

Auburn will be without one of their starting cornerbacks who is currently third on the team with 10 tackles. This loss could be very impactful as Conner Weigman has 909 passing yards and eight touchdowns through three games this season for the Aggies.

Auburn and Texas A&M will both be able to find their rhythm in the passing game. While the Tigers typically rely more on their run game, they are not completely inept through the air. The Over is a solid play here that may even get some help through aggressive defensive plays and special teams.

Auburn vs Texas A&M same-game parlay

Over 51.5

Jay Fair anytime TD

Noah Thomas anytime TD

High-scoring games typically provide great opportunities for big same game parlay odds. This is another one of those opportunities.

By taking the Over in the game, we give ourselves multiple options for touchdown scorers. First, let’s look at an Auburn player. Jay Fair is the clear leading receiver with 14 catches through three games. He also has two touchdowns, so he is most likely to score through the air against a bad pass defense.

For Texas A&M, Noah Thomas has been a go-to target around the end zone. He has four touchdowns on only 10 catches through three games. He also had a touchdown in the game against Miami.

Auburn vs Texas A&M spread and Over/Under analysis

A higher-scoring game will favor the Aggies style of play. Auburn is best in the run game and keeping opponents offenses off the field stopping them on third downs. However, the Aggies want to play quick and throw the ball around.

The Tigers offense is not nearly as deadly as the Hurricanes offense was and the Aggies will be at home. Texas A&M should be able to not only win but cover the spread and pull away with too many points for Auburn to keep up.

The Aggies have blocked both a kick and a punt this season. The Tigers have an interception return for a touchdown this year. Besides the offenses, there can be big plays in the other two dimensions that help contribute to our Over here.
