Boston College vs Wake Forest best odds

Boston College vs Wake Forest picks and predictions

Boston College has one of the worst offenses in the FBS, despite having an experienced quarterback at the helm. Third-year starter Phil Jurkovec has only 1,335 passing yards with 10 touchdowns and six interceptions on the season.

The Eagles also have had their struggles in the run game, as starting running back Patrick Garwo is only averaging 3.3 yards per carry this season. The one bright spot is wideout Zay Flowers, who has 42 catches for 556 yards and five touchdowns. Boston College ranks 113th in points per game, 121st in total offensive yards per game, and 127th in rushing offense in the nation. The Eagles also allow 3.8 sacks per game, which is one of the highest numbers allowed in the country.

Wake Forest averages 2.4 sacks per game and will be able to get after Jurkovec. To make matters worse for Boston College, the Eagles also struggled in the kicking game as well as holding onto the football. Kicker Connor Lytton has only hit five of his 10 field goal attempts this season. Boston College ranks 125th in the nation in turnover margin, while Wake Forest ranks 4th in the same category.

Meanwhile, the Demon Deacons have no issues with putting points on the board. They rank 14th in points per game (41.2) and have yet to be held under 31 points in a single game this season. This game should be no different, as Wake Forest will likely be able to force turnovers and sacks with relative ease against the Boston College offense.

Add that to the fact that BC will struggle to move the ball in general, and this has all the makings of a blowout. Any spread under -24 is a smash play for me.

My best bet: Wake Forest -20.5 (-105 at DraftKings)

Boston College vs Wake Forest spread analysis

Even though Wake Forest does not have a huge rushing offense, the Demon Deacons will be able to take advantage of a terrible Boston College rush defense. The split backfield of Justice Ellison and Christian Turner average 4.9 and 4.2 yards per carry, respectively. The Boston College pass defense is a respectably ranked 31st in the country, but it's about to face one of the most efficient quarterbacks in the league.

Sam Hartman is in his fifth year and is having a spectacular one. He has 1,442 passing yards with 16 touchdowns to only two interceptions. Hartman spreads the ball around to several targets, but his top target is A.T. Perry, who has 29 catches for 482 yards and four touchdowns.

Last year against Boston College, Hartman and Perry combined for four completions, 81 yards, and two touchdowns in a dominating 41-10 victory. There are lots of similarities between these two teams from last year’s matchup in Boston.

This time, the game is in Wake, and there are even more mismatches like the ones we discussed in the trenches and the kicking game. This spread seems like one of the best plays of the day.

Boston College vs Wake Forest Over/Under analysis

This is the highest total that a Boston College game has seen this season. In fact, only one BC game all year has gone Over this total of 61 points. That came against Louisville, where the Eagles won 34-33 thanks to three big plays that went for a total of 166 yards and three touchdowns.

Meanwhile, this is the second-lowest total in a Wake Forest game, but even the lowest (against Clemson) happened to go Over with a surprising 96 points scored.

However, both teams are dead even on Overs and Unders this season at 3-3 each. The Under is 5-1 in the last six Boston College games played in the month of October.

The Under is a perfect 5-0 in the last five Wake Forest games when they played against a team with a losing record. It's also 10-1 in the last 11 matchups between these two programs. Wake Forest will put points up on the board, but Boston College will struggle to reach double-digits.

That makes the Under the play here, as we will likely see a similar style game to last year when there were only 51 total points scored.
