Connecticut vs Michigan best odds
Connecticut vs Michigan picks and predictions
In a game with extremely high numbers, Michigan covering the first half spread at -30 is probably the best value on the board. Michigan has rolled through its first two opponents, outscoring them by a whopping 107-17, and this contest with UConn should go the same way as the other two have.
Head Coach Jim Harbaugh has chosen to start sophomore QB J.J. McCarthy. He looked impressive last week against Hawai’i, throwing for 229 passing yards and three touchdowns while playing just over half the game.
McCarthy is up against a Huskies passing defense allowing 253 passing yards per game, and wideouts Roman Wilson, Cornelius Johnson, and Ronnie Bell are going to feast on a UConn secondary already allowing six touchdown passes this season.
If the Michigan passing game isn’t enough, the Wolverines average 251 rushing yards per contest. Sophomore RB Blake Corum leads the way with 164 rushing yards and a pair of scores, followed by sophomore RB Donovan Edwards with 90 rushing yards and two touchdowns. Edwards is listed as questionable with an undisclosed injury.
The Huskies' rushing defense has allowed 578 rushing yards through their first three contests, and they’ll have trouble stopping the Wolverines' rushing attack behind one of the best offensive lines in the college game. UConn took a big hit when sophomore QB Ta’Quan Roberson was lost for the season in the first quarter of their opening game against Utah State. His replacement is freshman Zion Turner, and he’s thrown three picks already in 2022.
Turner faces a Michigan defense allowing 125 passing yards per contest with eight sacks and one interception. The Huskies' offensive line is a work in progress, and Turner will have defenders in his face all afternoon.
My best bet: Michigan first half -30 (-115 at Betfred)

Spread analysis
Michigan is 26-22 ATS as the home favorite during Harbaugh’s tenure, and UConn is 12-17-2 ATS as the away underdog during Head Coach Jim Mora Jr’s seven seasons as the Huskies' decision maker.
Michigan isn’t likely to run up the score and will probably play their starters until mid-way through the 3rd quarter. They could easily cover the spread, but that all depends on how many points the starters rack up.
At -10,000, the Michigan moneyline is unbeatable. Unless you think UConn can pull off the upset, good luck. It’s probably best to pass on a full-game spread or ML play for this contest.
Over/Under analysis
The total opened at 59.5 points, which has since risen to 60.5 Since 2014, the Over is 20-28 when Michigan is the home favorite, and the Over is 16-15 since 2015 when the Huskies are the away underdog.
The Under is 7-0 in Huskies' last seven games against Big Ten, and the Under is 13-6-1 in Huskies' last 20 games after accumulating less than 100 yards rushing in their previous game.
Conversely, the Under is 6-1 in the Wolverines' last seven non-conference games and 6-1 in the Wolverines' last seven home games. There’s a decent chance this game finishes under the total, but I’m going to pass in favor of my first half play.
