Georgia vs Vanderbilt Odds, Picks, and Predictions: Bulldogs Tear Through Commodores

The Georgia Bulldogs may not look as complete as years prior, but no mistaking how good this team still is. The Commodores have been walloped by the Bulldogs before, and our college football spicks expect more of the same.

The two-time defending national champions are picking up steam here in October as the Georgia Bulldogs are looking to stomp over the Vanderbilt Commodores in Nashville on their way to another undefeated season.

The Bulldogs completely dismantled an undefeated Kentucky team last Saturday night and improved to 6-0, while the Commodores lost a fifth consecutive game last week on the road against Florida. Will the Dawgs be able to cover the massive spread that college football odds laid?

Here are my free college football picks for Georgia vs. Vanderbilt at FirstBank Stadium in Nashville, TN on Saturday, October 14.

Georgia vs Vanderbilt best odds

Georgia vs Vanderbilt picks and predictions

Georgia had issues in its first two SEC games this season and looked a little vulnerable for the first time in a couple of years. However, that all changed after the Bulldogs smashed the Wildcats last week in a 51-13 romp. That was supposed to be one of the toughest tests of the season for Georgia and it passed with flying colors

The Bulldogs have had absolutely no problem with looking past Vanderbilt the last two years. They have won by a combined score of 117-0, and this year should be no different given Vandy’s problems on defense and massive injury report.

The Commodores allow 24.0 points per game (121st in the country), 263.7 passing yards (112th), 46.9% opponent’s third down percentage (121st), and 155 opponent first downs (130th).

They are about to face a whole new beast in a Bulldogs' offense ranked 10th in scoring (40.7), fifth in passing yards per game (349.7), fifth in third down percentage (54.7%), third in first downs gained (162), and 18th in pass efficiency. This could get ugly quick for the Commodores.

To make matters even worse, Vandy will likely be without five key defenders and two offensive linemen in this matchup. While the Commodores offense has been decent under quarterback Ken Seals since he took over the offense, they have yet to face a defense like this Bulldogs squad. I will take all the points and expect another 40 to 50-point win for UGA.

My best bet: Georgia -31.5 (-105 at FanDuel)

In this same game parlay, I'm relying heavily on Georgia jumping out to a quick lead and dominating the game throughout.

The Bulldogs have scored 44 or more points in all of their blowout wins this season, and if they're going to cover the spread, they'll do so with a huge number on the scoreboard.

It is very likely Georgia will score two TDs in the first quarter and cover the total by itself. Last week the Bulldogs started up 14-0 in the opening frame and last year against Vandy they did the same.

Finally, I'll finish with the first half spread. It is only 16.5 points and with that low of a number, UGA can afford to give up a touchdown and should still cover relatively easily.

Georgia vs Vanderbilt spread and Over/Under analysis

Not only are the Commodores terrible at stopping opponents on third down, they have also allowed five of seven fourth-down conversions. In the red zone, Vandy has given up 16 TDs and 11 field goals in 30 attempts. Georgia has 21 touchdowns and eight field goals in 32 attempts, and it will be near impossible for the Commodores to get the Bulldogs off the field without scoring a touchdown.

This total is very dangerous to play with because it will likely come down to either Vanderbilt scoring or Georgia not relenting in the final frame. While I like Georgia to score Over 43.5 points, asking it to score 56 may be a bit too much. The Bulldogs scored 51 against Kentucky last week to prove a point that they are still the top dawgs — sorry — but 56 may be out of reach.

Vandy has not scored against Georgia in the past two seasons, and while this Georgia defense is not quite the same as the previous two versions, it still ranks 10th in points per game allowed.
