The Longhorns moved up one spot in the AP rankings last week after skunking Colorado State 52-0. Heisman Trophy contender Quinn Ewers threw for 260 yards and three touchdowns in the breezy win as Texas dominated every facet of play from the opening kickoff to the final whistle.
The Wolverines, meanwhile, dropped a spot after a lackluster 30-10 victory over lightly-regarded Fresno State. Michigan led by as few as four points late in the second half as new QB Davis Warren threw a pick early and struggled to find his comfort zone. U of M head coach Sherrone Moore will need a far more focused effort from his signal caller to have any hope against the Longhorns.
