It's a battle of unbeaten teams as No. 20 Kentucky takes on No. 1 Georgia in Athens. The college football odds believe Georgia will run away with this one, but our college football betting picks expect the Wildcats to keep this close for the full 60.

The biggest showdown in the SEC up to this point is set for tonight in Athens, as the undefeated Kentucky Wildcats take on the fellow undefeated Georgia Bulldogs.

Last week, the Wildcats ran over the Florida Gators in dominating fashion, while the Bulldogs snuck out a close road win over Auburn. Can the Wildcats cover the spread in the college football odds on the road and maybe even pull off the upset and change the balance of the SEC East?

Here are our free college football picks and predictions for Kentucky vs. Georgia at Sanford Stadium in Athens, GA on October 7.

Kentucky vs Georgia picks and predictions

This game has been the biggest hump for coach Mark Stoops in getting this Kentucky football program to the level of the SEC elites. After a few close calls over the last five years, this may be the year for Stoops and Co. to finally get over that hump.

While the Wildcats have had an easy schedule with four home games and only one road game at the worst team in the conference Vanderbilt, they have impressed with their five wins. Kentucky just completely dominated Florida on both ends of the trenches and ran for 329 yards including a 2-yard touchdown run against 13 defenders.

On the defensive end, the Wildcats have been mighty impressive. They have already scored three touchdowns themselves and rank 20th nationally allowing 15.2 points per game. The defense only allows 75.8 rushing yards per contest (9th) and held Trevor Etienne to 29 yards on 11 carries last week.

The Georgia Bulldogs are still the king of the SEC and back-to-back defending national champions until they lose, which they have not yet done. However, they appear very vulnerable in their two SEC games this season. At home to South Carolina, they won 24-14 in an ugly game. Last week at Auburn, they trailed for much of the game before closing it out with a 27-20 victory.

The defense is still very good, but not unreal like they were the last two seasons. Allowing 21 points to UAB and 20 points to Auburn in consecutive weeks is cause for concern. The big question is can the Wildcats get their passing game going to for a complete game? This will be difficult with wideouts Barion Brown and Tayvion Robinson both questionable with injuries.

For Kentucky to win this game, they will need a complete game in all facets of the game. However, if they play great defense and run the ball successfully, they will have no problem covering the spread. That is something I feel very confident in, and that is my best bet in this contest.

My best bet: Kentucky +14.5 (-110 at DraftKings)

Kentucky vs Georgia same-game parlay

Kentucky +14.5

Ray Davis anytime TD

Under 48.5

I expect this game to be a dogfight that will be extremely physical and likely low-scoring. We will use that game script to draw up a nice same game parlay.

Starting with the spread, we will also look to add the Under in the total. Last year, this game was played to a 16-6 Georgia win. While I do not expect it to be that low-scoring, I would be surprised to see either team go over 24 points.

I also want to add one player to score a touchdown. That player is going to be Ray Davis. He has eight rushing touchdowns and three receiving touchdowns on the season. That includes a four-touchdown performance last week against Florida.

Kentucky vs Georgia spread and Over/Under analysis

One major reason that I believe the Cats will be able to keep this one close is the offensive line - known as the Big Blue Wall. It has only allowed four sacks this season and helped create nice rushing lanes for Davis to put up some big plays. Kentucky also ranks 24th in the country in tackles for loss allowed per game at 4.2.

We mentioned including the game total Under in our same game parlay. Besides just looking at last year’s score, you can also look at comparative games this season. In Georgia’s two SEC games, they averaged 25.5 points per game and allowed 17.0 points. Those were also not as good of defensive teams as Kentucky.

The Wildcats only allowed Vandy to surpass 20 points because of garbage time points scored in the 4th quarter of a blowout. Florida only scored 14 last week, despite putting up 29 against Tennessee just two weeks prior. This should be another low-scoring matchup.
