Against the spread (ATS) pick

Michigan opened the year with what appeared to be an impressive road victory over Minnesota, easily covering the 3-point chalk in a 49-24 win (in hindsight, that win looks less impressive after the Golden Gophers followed that up by losing to Maryland).

Then the Wolverines headed home to Ann Arbour and welcomed rival Michigan State to town, laying 21.5 points—which seemed reasonable considering the Spartans had just gotten beaten soundly by Rutgers in a game in which they had seven turnovers. However, the Spartans outplayed the Wolverines all game and Jim Harbaugh’s seat got that much hotter as they lost 27-24.

QB Joe Milton has moved the ball well this season, but he averaged less than six yards per attempt against the Spartans and the Wolverines struggled to get much on the ground as a team. Now, they will face a solid Hoosiers defense which has led the team to a surprising 2-0 SU/ATS start of their own.

Indiana opened the season with a shocking upset of Penn State in Happy Valley, winning 36-35 in overtime as 7-point underdogs. The Hoosiers followed that up with a solid win over Rutgers, covering as 11-point favorites in what was a typical letdown spot.

Indiana may be giving up over 180 yards per game on the ground, but the 4.4 yards per carry isn’t terrible. If the Hoosiers can force Milton into the short passing game, and QB Michael Penix Jr. can be efficient and not turn over the ball, they’ll have a chance to be successful.

You will spin yourself in circles if you try to do "Big Ten math" so shockingly, Indiana is the more stable program, and is playing better at the moment. We’re taking the Hoosiers. Which probably means Michigan wins big.

PREDICTION: Indiana +3 (-110)

Over/Under pick

Right off the bat, the total looks a little low in this one. Michigan’s defense has not played as well as expected to this point, ranking 44th in total yards allowed at 387.5 per game, which includes 260 per game through the air. And while the Wolverines’ offense looked stuck in the mud against Michigan State last week, they still put up 24 points.

Indiana, while not putting up a ton of yards, has been super-efficient and has scored 70 points over its first two games, while giving up 28 points per game at the same time. Considering those factors, these teams should be able to take down this total.

PREDICTION: Over 54 (-110)

Team to Score First Prop

While Michigan has certainly had its issues on offense, they have done pretty well to open each game. The Wolverines have scored 28 first-quarter points already this season, and while Indiana should put up more of a fight, Harbaugh's crew still seems like a good bet to get on the scoreboard first.

Plus, Indiana is a little slower to get going and has just one first-quarter field goal to its name this season.

PREDICTION: Team to Score First - Michigan (-130)
