If you told me at the beginning of the season that Mississippi State would be a dog at home in Week 2 against NC State, I’d call you crazy. But, the unthinkable has happened — NC State is the favorite.

I understand this is a good team in NC State. The main issue is which version of them comes out to play. We saw a Wolfpack team that steamrolled a bad South Florida team. Now, they have to play a very potent offensive team in the SEC.
In my opinion, Mississippi State got the more challenging opponent last week. Reality will finally set in for the Wolfpack. I like the Bulldogs to take care of business and win the game outright in a nail-bitter!

NC State will not shut out the Bulldogs. Mississippi State has a proven offensive mindset with Mike Leach. His teams will put up points in the air, regardless of who is at quarterback. When he was at Washington State, he made Luke Falk a respectable quarterback throwing at least 90 touchdowns total in his last three years. During Leach's career, he has averaged 35 points per game, regardless of the quarterback on his team.
NC State brought back a solid offensive line that will give the offense time to execute. Zonovan Knight led the team in rushing with 163 yards last week and should be able to produce similar numbers against Mississippi State's rush defense. The Bulldogs allowed 268 yards on the ground against Louisiana Tech. This should allow the Wolfpack to score points more easily.
This game should be an old-fashioned shootout in Starkville. The Over is 5-0 in NC State's last 5 games as a road favorite. They know they will need to put up points in this game to contend, and thus should have no problem pushing the Over.
