Oklahoma vs West Virginia Picks and Predictions December 12

West Virginia got absolutely crushed last week by Iowa State, but should have a better time against an Oklahoma squad that has nothing to play for this Saturday.

The topsy-turvy Big 12 has given us something familiar and something completely unexpected this season.

Let’s start with Oklahoma, which has won six straight and already clinched a spot in the conference championship game. On the flip side, there’s Iowa State that, while not normally known for being such a big name in college football betting, this year has been the exception, with the Cyclones clinching a spot in the title tilt as well.

In other words, there’s not much drama riding on Saturday’s battle between the Sooners and Mountaineers, but the challenge of picking the right side remains.

Here are our best college football free picks and predictions for No. 11 Oklahoma at West Virginia, with kickoff scheduled to get underway on Saturday, December 12 at 12:00 p.m. ET.

Morgantown will be cloudy and mild on Saturday afternoon. Look for a high of 56 degrees with wind out of the south at 6 mph. There’s a 20 percent chance of rain in the forecast as well. Be sure to monitor the gametime conditions with our NCAA football weather info.

Against the Spread (ATS) Pick

After a slow start to the season, the Sooners are right back where they usually are—getting ready to play for a conference title. A loss by Oklahoma State last weekend ensured that there would be no drama during the conference’s final week of the regular season. Oklahoma’s winning streak has coincided with the emergence of running back Rhamondre Stevenson. He had only 50 yards on 15 carries in OU’s 27-14 victory against Baylor, but he’ll be relied on heavily when the Sooners take the field in Arlington in two weeks.

The wheels completely fell off last week for West Virginia when the Mountaineers hit the field against Iowa State and got pummeled 42-6. West Virginia was never in this game, trailing 21-0 at halftime and getting little production from either side of the ball. Quarterback Jarret Doege went 21-41 for 209 yards, and the ground game wasn’t much better.

This is a difficult matchup to handicap because Oklahoma is clearly the better and more motivated team. But how do the Sooners balance wanting to win and stay sharp with the fact that this game is meaningless? Oklahoma just keeps winning – and usually winning big – but I can’t see Lincoln Riley risking his best players for longer than necessary, so give me the points with the Mountaineers.

PREDICTION: West Virginia +13.5 (-110)

Over/Under Pick

Oklahoma can score with just about any team in the country, but the Sooners are in a huge lookahead spot here and if they’ve got any surprises offensively, they’re certainly not going to give them away on Saturday.

West Virginia looked completely lost against Iowa State and the Under is 10-1 in West Virginia’s last 11 games in November, so that trend should hold.

PREDICTION: Under 56.5 (-110)

Team Total Pick

Maybe West Virginia will show some life because the seniors will be playing their final game in Morgantown, but the Sooner defense deserves more of the focus here.

While there were plenty of questions early, Oklahoma has settled in and now only gives up 22 points per game. I don’t see West Virginia presenting much of a challenge.

PREDICTION: West Virginia team total Under 21.5 (-137)
