The No. 1 ranked Alabama Crimson Tide survived a scare from the Florida Gators last week, gutting out a 31-29 victory in the Swamp.
But the Tide were two-touchdown favorites and cruising before almost collapsing in the second half. Does Bama take out its frustrations on the Southern Miss Golden Eagles as massive 45-point chalk, or is that enough points to consider the underdogs in this spot?

Southern Miss vs Alabama predictions
Alabama -45 (-110)
Alabama started last week’s game against Florida pretty well, roaring out to a 21-3 lead. But then the Gators' defense clamped down and the offense slowly brought them back into the game. In fact, Florida ended up outgaining the Tide when all was said and done.
So, Nick Saban has plenty of material to motivate his team with this week. Alabama is still one of the best teams in the country but they are young and, unfortunately for Southern Miss, it might be an undeserving victim in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Bryce Young, while he stumbled a bit down the stretch last week, has still put up outstanding numbers. The sophomore signal-caller is completing 68 percent of his passes for 811 yards with 10 touchdowns, and he has yet to throw a pick this season.
Southern Miss has played some defense so far this season but that came against Southern Alabama, Grambling State, and Troy. Meanwhile, the Golden Eagles offense has yet to take flight, ranking 123rd in total offense and 117th in scoring offense. It will be a mild miracle if they score more than once in this game.
Alabama has yet to play a full 60 minutes. Saban will make an example of Southern Miss here.
Alabama -28 first half (-120)
If this feels like it is a bit of an insurance bet if Alabama does take its foot off the gas in the second half, that’s because it is.
Alabama continues to be a first-half spread monster over the past few seasons, going 2-1 ATS, and there is a good reason why. They rank ninth in the country in first-half scoring putting up 24 points per game while conceding just six points per game before the break.
Considering how pissed off Saban must be about the Tide’s season thus far they should come out blazing in this one and with Southern Miss averaging just five first-half points per game this season, we’re betting Bama jumps out a big lead before the bands hit the field.
