Friday’s AAC matchup between the Temple Owls and USTA Roadrunners features two schools one victory away from bowl eligibility.

USTA is riding a nine-game home winning streak, and my Temple vs. UTSA predictions expect Roadrunners quarterback Owen McCown to own the Owls.

Read on as I explain why my college football picks like McCown to have a big night on Friday, November 22.

Temple vs UTSA prediction and best bet

My best bet
Owen McCown Over 2.5 passing touchdowns (+100 at Caesars)
Picks made at time of writing may not reflect live odds.

My analysis
The UTSA Roadrunners are one victory shy of bowl eligibility. That’s huge for the Roadrunners, and they have an excellent chance to win their 17th of their past 18 home games.

A team that scores 31 points per game, the Roadrunners boast the second-best passing offense in the AAC behind the big arm of sophomore Owen McCown. He has good wheels, but he excels through the air with 22 scoring strikes and 3+ touchdown passes in three of his last five games.

He’s up against a stingy Temple Owls passing defense that's surrendering 190 yards per game but hemorrhaging 18 touchdowns, 10 of which came in the red zone. That should help McCown clear his passing touchdown prop.

Temple has one of the worst rushing defenses in the AAC. UTSA isn’t the best rushing side, but running back Robert Henry has 500+ rushing yards, and they’ll be able to move the chains.

McCown has cleared 2.5 passing touchdowns five times this season. Expect him to punish the Owls as the field gets shorter.

Temple vs UTSA same-game parlay (SGP)

Owen McCown Over 2.5 passing touchdowns

UTSA -16.5

Under 56.5

I expect McCown to have a big day, UTSA to win comfortably, and the Roadrunners to stymie Temple.

Temple is 0-5 when it leaves Philadelphia. As the away team, it's also 1-4 ATS. Temple will face a UTSA side that has won 17 of its last 18 at the Alamodome and is 4-1 ATS across its previous five in San Antonio.

This total is simply too high. Temple scores 19 points per game but has scored fewer than 19 in four of their last five away clashes. UTSA doesn’t excel on the defensive end, but they have one sack and one takeaway in nine straight games.
