When Texas A&M decided to break the bank for head coach Jimbo Fisher, the prevailing thought was that the Aggies overpaid for a man who had perhaps seen his best days, but the college football betting community has seen differently this season.

The Aggies are coming off a 42-31 win over Arkansas, and Kellen Mond continues his strong season, throwing for 1,244 yards, 12 touchdowns and only two picks. Fisher’s pro-style system fits the senior quarterback quite nicely, but the Aggies can be equally dominant on the ground, with Isaiah Spiller and his 512 yards rushing, bolstered by a big and effective offensive line in front of him.
The Gamecocks have had an extra week to prepare since receiving a 52-24 thrashing at the hands of LSU. South Carolina relies on defense and trying to control the clock on offense, which means the Gamecocks don’t fare well when playing from behind. Colin Hill has thrown five touchdowns and three interceptions this year, and running back Kevin Harris is coming off a stellar performance against the Tigers in which he gashed LSU for 126 yards on only 12 carries.
The early money hit Texas A&M pretty hard and pushed this line to double-digits. I would have bet the Aggies -7 as well, but now I think the value is on a South Carolina team that should be rested and seems to always play better in front of the home crowd.
PREDICTION: South Carolina +10 (-110)
Over/Under pick
Normally, I might lean towards the Under here, but head coach Will Muschamp drives the defense for the Gamecocks.
And with an extra seven days to prepare his team, I think he can get the low-scoring battle he prefers. The Under is 4-0 in South Carolina’s last four games following a bye week.
PREDICTION: Under 58.5 (-110)
Team total pick
If the Gamecocks want to keep this close, they’re going to have to make stops against an A&M offense that is averaging 37 points a game in its last three contests. The Aggies team total is likely a touch inflated because of their recent success, so I’m rolling with the Under.
