The 2023 quarterback class got quite a bit of hype thanks to the inclusion of Arch Manning.
And while he's clearly the most anticipated member of the class, he may not have much of an impact on his squad this season as opposed to others like Jaden Rashada and Dante Moore.
Below, I rank the Top 5 true freshman quarterbacks that will make an impact on the 2023 season and break down how they could factor into your college football betting picks.

No. 5: Arch Manning, Texas Longhorns
While he's the No. 1-ranked recruit from this past class and maybe the most hyped player to enter college football in the last decade, he's unlikely to see the field much this season — if at all.
The next generation of the Manning family will likely need to wait another year before the official launch. Quinn Ewers is my pick to win the Heisman Trophy, so I clearly believe he'll hold off Manning with his play.
However, the Texas Longhorns may be able to find some spots to fit Manning into the offense and they may need him if injury occurs.
My best bet: Texas to make the College Football Playoff (+300 at DraftKings)
No. 4: Jackson Arnold, Oklahoma Sooners
This is one of the highest-rated quarterbacks the Oklahoma Sooners have ever landed in the recruiting trail, and that's saying something considering the greats that have played at Oklahoma in recent years.
While not currently the starting quarterback, there is a path for him to see time this season. Dillon Gabriel was solid, but he still led the team to the worst Oklahoma season since 1998, the year before Bob Stoops took over.
If the team loses early on, there's no reason to believe Brent Venables wouldn’t switch to Arnold to try to win back the fanbase.
My best bet: Dillon Gabriel Under 3,025.5 passing yards (-115 at DraftKings)
No. 3: Nico Iamaleava, Tennessee Longhorns
Nico Iamaleava finds himself in a similar situation to Arch Manning. Iamaleava was the third-ranked quarterback in the 2023 class and the sixth-ranked player overall, according to On3 Recruiting.
He also finds himself behind a starting quarterback with serious Heisman hopes in Joe Milton, who'll be playing his sixth season in college football.
However, Milton has injury issues, which gave Hendon Hooker the chance to play and he never looked back. With injury, we may see Iamaleava take over and also not look back. He's the most likely true freshman quarterback to make an impact this season that isn't starting Week 1.
My best bet: Tennessee Under 9.5 wins (-180 at DraftKings)
No. 2: Jaden Rashada, Arizona State Sun Devils
Jaden Rashada has officially beaten out Notre Dame transfer Drew Pyne and BYU transfer Jacob Conover for the Week 1 starting job against Southern Utah. The freshman was the sixth-ranked quarterback and 73rd-ranked player overall.
First-year head coach Kenny Dillingham has experience with coaching true freshman QBs as he was the offensive coordinator at Auburn with Bo Nix at quarterback. Nix had a successful season, winning SEC Freshman of the Year and leading Auburn to a 9-4 season.
Rashada will have plenty of experience around him and an offensive-minded head coach. They have the possibility to light up the scoreboard in situations this season.
My best bet: Arizona State Over 4.5 wins (-125 at BetMGM)
No. 1: Dante Moore, UCLA Bruins
Not only is Dante Moore the second-ranked quarterback (third overall) prospect from the 2023 recruiting class, but he's also the clear starter for the UCLA Bruins.
Chip Kelly built a strong relationship with Moore in the recruiting process, hoping he could be the next Dorian Thompson-Robinson for the Bruins.
Moore won back-to-back state titles in high school in Michigan and put up incredible passing numbers with great efficiency. He was also the MVP of the All-American Bowl, completing 14 of 19 passes for 156 yards and four scores. He was a true pocket passer and could put up some huge numbers under Kelly.
My best bet: UCLA Over 8.5 wins (-125 at DraftKings)
