Fresno State will look to build upon an impressive 3-1 start to the season as they host the UNLV Rebels in a Mountain West Conference showdown.
The Bulldogs have been a cash cow for bettors, going a perfect 4-0 ATS to begin the season. Their only loss on the season was a one-score defeat to Oregon, who went on to beat Ohio State the next week. They’re expected to win handily in this one against a lowly 0-3 UNLV team.

UNLV vs Fresno State predictions
Against the spread (ATS) pick (odds)
Fresno is absolutely rolling to start the year, going 4-0 ATS with an average cover margin of 15.5 points — the top mark in the country. When a team is this hot, you either ride the train or get out of the way.
The offense has been particularly impressive, averaging 43 points per game and 538 total yards. The passing game under Washington transfer Jake Haener at quarterback has been dynamite, throwing for over 400 yards per game.
Haener has undoubtedly played himself into the NFL Draft discussion through his impressive performances and heroics on the field. He battled through a lower-body injury in the UCLA game that was obviously affecting him, and still led the game-winning drive.
UNLV will only hope to contain this dynamic Bulldogs receiving corps, led by Jalen Cropper (347 yards and 4 TDs) and Josh Kelly (373 yards and 2 TDs).
Running back Ronnie Rivers, who holds the all-time school touchdown record, should find repeated success against a UNLV front allowing 190 rushing yards per game. Overall, this Fresno offense should have no problems lighting up the scoreboard in a lopsided matchup.
Some might look at this game as a letdown spot for Fresno after the thrilling win over UCLA, but UNLV is arguably in a tougher spot after getting bullied in back-to-back weeks by Arizona State and Iowa State. They get no relief here against arguably the top offense in the conference.
Over/Under pick (odds)
It’s pretty hard to play an Under when this Fresno state offense is rolling like they are currently. They have advantages pretty much all across the field as mentioned in the previous section, and they should hit paydirt early and often.
UNLV has allowed every team that they’ve faced to score 35 points or more, and that includes an FCS school and two run-heavy Power 5 offenses. We should expect Fresno to roll out of bed and drop 40 in this matchup at home, with room for more.
We need UNLV to score a few points to hold up their end of the bargain. The Fresno defense is allowing only 19.3 points per game, but those numbers are artificially weighed down by games against UCONN (arguably the worst FBS team) and Cal Poly (an FCS school). This Fresno defense can allow a few points, as they surrendered 30 points per game a season ago.
We’re taking the Over.
