The Eagles travel to Miami to face the Dolphins, with both teams looking ahead to a new season. Both teams are 1-1 in the preseason. We’ve heard plenty about the relationship between Jalen Hurts and his former college teammate Tua Tagovailoa, so we’re expecting to see something fun here.

Spread analysis
Saturday sees the Eagles face the Dolphins at Hard Rock Stadium after a fascinating buildup.
On Thursday, the Dolphins suddenly canceled their planned joint practice with Philly. The Eagles had no symptoms, and there is a belief that the Dolphins had probably suffered from some degree of food poisoning. They should be over that by Saturday, but we’re yet to hear from either head coach on how they’ll be lining up on Saturday.
It goes without saying that it makes predicting this game tricky when we don’t know how much we’ll see the starters, but it’s safe to assume that in any case, we won’t see much, if anything, from Hurts and Tagovailoa.
When it comes to betting on this game you really have to look at the men behind the starters, and there are accomplished talents on both sides.
Miami has Teddy Bridgewater behind Tagovailoa, and the Eagles have Gardner Minshew. Neither man has managed to become a franchise QB, but both are very good quarterbacks. There’s still an argument that Minshew hasn’t really had a fair chance at being a starter, and he is capable of real moments of magic, and of the two QBs on show, he’s the better one.
When it comes to leaning either way, I’d side with the Eagles. They have a number of quality players on the roster bubble who’ll need to perform in this game to secure a place on the team. They have the better backup, even if that’s a marginal decision.
Then there is this mystery illness. We still don’t know much about what it was. It probably won’t have an impact on this game, but there’s a chance that it might. For that reason, take the Eagles and the points.
Prediction: Eagles +2 (-110 at DraftKings)
Over/Under analysis
The line dropped from 38 to 37.5 since opening, and the market is likely moving in the right direction.
Both of these teams have good depth on the defensive side of the ball and should keep this game fairly low scoring, despite having good quarterbacks on the field.
For that reason, we’ll take the Under here, and we’ll be confident that the bet lands.
Prediction: Under 37.5 (-110 at bet365)
Best bet
These are two teams who should both have improved seasons this year. They have quarterbacks that looked primed to take a leap in their development and will hopefully become franchise guys.
In many ways, it’s probably both Hurts and Tagovailoa’s final chances to prove to their teams that they are the men to lead their teams for the decade.
When they meet on Saturday, I’m expecting an intense game between two teams with no love lost. As I mentioned earlier, we still don’t know exactly who’ll be on the field, which makes this really difficult to pick.
It’s a close call between the two teams, but I feel that Gardner Minshew has the ability to lead his team to a win here.
Both teams are currently 1-1 in the preseason, and in this, the final game before the regular season, it’s important for both teams that they end on a high.
The Eagles have the best roster, and that should be enough to secure them a win here, grab the moneyline at +110.
Pick: Eagles moneyline (+110 at bet365)
