The New York Giants escaped disaster last week, completing a 20-0 halftime comeback to steal a win against the presumed bottom-of-the-barrel Cardinals. The Week 3 odds have them traveling to take on the San Francisco 49ers, who have strung together two impressive wins to start the season.
The Giants will embark on their trip without both their star running back Saquon Barkley and emerging left tackle Andrew Thomas, while San Francisco may be without breakout wideout Brandon Aiyuk.
Who will step up and emerge on the national stage for Thursday Night Football? TNF odds have the Niners tabbed as -10.5 point favorites with the total sitting at 44.5.

Giants vs 49ers TNF props
Prop bet #1: Producing in relief
After playing 100% of the Niners' Week 2 snaps (and 85% of their Week 1 snaps), Kyle Shanahan admitted that he needed to spell Christian McCaffrey and noted "We definitely got to get Elijah [Mitchell] in there more and do better with our rotation than we did yesterday. That wasn’t the plan going in, it just ended up that way. I’ve got to make sure that doesn’t happen".
Elijah Mitchell has logged just five rushing attempts this season (all coming in Week 1), and didn't even take the field in the last game. But given Shanahan's comments, we should see a workload for Mitchell more in line with last year's.
In the four regular season games that Mitchell and McCaffrey played together last year, Mitchell averaged 9.8 carries and 59.5 rushing yards per game. Even in the two playoff games they played together last year (a time during which Shanahan would lean heaviest on his stars), Mitchell still handled 23 combined rushing attempts and had snap percentages of 22% (Wild Card round) and 33% (Divisional round).
Throw in the fact that this game has blowout potential (the Niners are favored by 10 at most books), and you have a recipe for Mitchell to find the field.
Elijah Mitchel prop: Over 28.5 rushing yards (-110 at DraftKings)
Prop bet #2: Purdy Pedestrian
Thursday Night Football can always be a bit wonky, and coaches of teams tend to play a bit safer and more conservatively in order to not strain their players too much - especially if they are expected to win or have established a large lead.
A perfect example of this is a Thursday Night Football game from last December - a game which Purdy actually played in. The Niners had built a 21-6 lead over the Seahawks by the middle of the third quarter and across their final 28 offensive plays (end-of-game kneel downs were excluded), they only attempted ten passes.
Purdy finished with 26 pass attempts for the game, a mark that is certainly low for him. In fact of the ten games (both regular season and playoffs) that he started and finished, he has only had less pass attempts in four of those games. Those four games were blowouts of 17, 23, 25, and 28
If we expect a blowout, we should expect Purdy to throw less.
Brock Purdy prop: Under 28.5 pass attempts (-130 at DraftKings)
Prop bet #3: Sack City
Nick Bosa got what he wanted when a five-year $170 million extension ended his holdout just before the season began. However, his performance thus far hasn't exactly made the extension look worth it in the small sample that is the 2023 season thus far.
Bosa has been held without a sack for the first two games, and the star EDGE rusher has not gone sack-less in back-to-back games since the 2021 season. Helping his cause is the fact that the Giants' offensive line will be shorthanded after it was announced left tackle Andrew Thomas will miss Thursday night's game.
And the offensive line has already had its fair share of troubles even before Thomas' departure, having surrendered ten sacks across the first two games already. That included seven alone to the Cowboys' defense, a defense that talent-wise profiles similarly to the Niners'.
Nick Bosa prop: Over 0.75 sacks (+100 at DraftKings)
