The New York Giants and the New York Jets will collide in the annual “Snoopy Bowl” at MetLife Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
The Jets — who have won each of their first two exhibition games — are the designated home team and enter this preseason affair as sizable 4.5-point favorites. However, the Giants have also come out on top in each of their first two August tilts.

Spread analysis
The spread may be a little steep, but a more motivated Jets squad should prevail on Sunday. Jets head coach Robert Saleh indicated that his starters (sans Zach Wilson) would play anywhere from one quarter to the entire first half in this one, which means 37-year-old veteran Joe Flacco will make his first preseason appearance of 2022.
While he may not be capable of leading a team to a Super Bowl anymore, he can surely pick apart a suspect amalgamation of Giants' defenders that have allowed 43 points over its first two tilts. Once Flacco exits, the battle for the third-string signal-calling job will continue between Mike White and Chris Streveler.
White is the incumbent but appears to be losing, as he’s gone 22-for-37 (59.5 percent) for only 188 yards and no touchdowns. Streveler has impressed by completing 14-for-20 of his passes through the air for 181 yards and three touchdowns.
There’s not nearly as much pressure in the Giants quarterback room, as Daniel Jones figures to have done enough this preseason and will go into Week 1 as the starter once more. That will leave Davis Webb (30-for-43, 255 yards, two touchdowns) and Tyrod Taylor (20-for-32, 166 yards, one touchdown) to split the reps.
This all has yet to be confirmed by Giants' head coach Brian Daboll, but the betting action on the Jets implies this is the case. That gives Gang Green a decisive advantage, so lay the points.
Prediction: Jets -4.5 (-110 at BetMGM)
Over/Under analysis
With neither defense distinguishing itself through two exhibition tilts, bettors should expect this game to clear a fairly lofty total. Big Blue’s aforementioned shaky stoppers could have their hands full with Streveler, who’s managed 64 yards on eight carries in addition to his solid stats through the air. Lamical Perine has contributed 61 yards on 12 carries this preseason, keeping the opposition honest.
Jets' quarterbacks have spread the ball around quite a bit, with seven players accumulating three-to-five receptions so far. Lawrence Cager stands out with his 105 reception yards, 91 of which have been earned after the catch. He’s one of three Gang Green pass-catchers with a score this preseason.
Webb and Taylor have kept the chains moving for the Giants by being accurate, combining for a 66.7 percent completion rate with three touchdowns and no interceptions. Running back Antonio Williams has impressed on the ground, rushing for 87 yards and a score on 14 attempts.
The Jets’ defense has been nothing spectacular through two exhibition affairs, surrendering a staggering 364 yards per game. The Under has yet to cash in any preseason game involving a New York team this preseason, and that trend should continue on Sunday.
Prediction: Over 38 (-110 at Caesars)
Best bet
All signs point to a fairly high-scoring Snoopy Bowl on Sunday afternoon. The Jets won last year’s renewal in a 12-7 slog, but each of the prior eight editions saw the teams combine for no fewer than 38 points. The personnel has changed drastically over the years, but the desire for each team to stick it to their fellow tenant is evident.
Gang Green has been doing plenty of scoring already, but playing their starters in this one can only help. Big Blue has not been hapless in that department this August and should be able to tack on enough points to ensure this game exceeds the total.
Pick: Over 38 (-110 at Caesars)
