Two weeks in, and the Covers Staff NFL betting competition already has some clear winners...and some clear not-so-winners. The excuses range from Jeff Driskel scoring too much against Pittsburgh to star players getting hurt in juicy matchups. But you know who doesn't make excuses?

Each week, the members of the Covers editorial staff will provide their best parlay and NFL teaser bets of the week. In previous years, these picks were restricted to just totals, spreads and moneylines but this year everything is in play. Player props, derivatives: if you can find a place to bet it, it's fair game.

The Packers shouldn't be underdogs against a Saints squad struggling to move the ball without Michael Thomas. The Bears stop unit isn't anywhere near as good as it was in 2018, while the Falcons are that exciting blend of high-octane offense and flag-football defense. And these aren't the offensively-inept Bills of last year: Josh Allen & Co. are third in the NFL in yards, while the Rams are fifth.

After watching New Orleans on Monday night it’s hard to believe they’re favored versus Green Bay; getting the Pack +9 feels like a gift. The J-E-T-S, Jets, Jets, Jets...stink, stink, stink! Colts cover easily. Joe Burrow gets to a grounded Eagles team and Justin Herbert gets a Carolina team without the sizzle of Christian McCaffrey. Rookie QBs get it done Sunday.

Parlay Picks Week 2

I hit with a five-team ML parlay last week but I'm going a bit shorter this week with a three teamer. I'm taking the moneyline with Philadelphia and Cleveland, two home teams I think will win, and using an alternate spread to bring the Colts' side through a few key numbers and down to -5.5.

I was a Davante Adams wonky hamstring away from victory last week, so here’s hoping my player props stay healthy in Week 3.
I like Mike Evans to ravage the shell of a Broncos secondary. I think DK Metcalf will continue ballin’ out against 'Little D.' Then I like Terry McLaurin to have a game, as he does most of his damage on passes thrown between the numbers and Cleveland has allowed 74 percent of such passes to be completed (and McLaurin is literally all the WFT has offensively).

I fear for the Lions D vs. Kyler Murray's ascent after they were humiliated by Green Bay and briefly made Mitch Trubisky look like Steve Young. Speaking of the Packers, they look too strong to be given three points by the Saints sans Michael Thomas. And taking a slightly-tweaked Under in NYJ-Indy because, well... the Jets.

Yeah, I'm riding favorites this week, and I'm particularly liking the Patriots. New England coming off a tough loss at Seattle, Las Vegas coming off a huge emotional home win over the Saints. Love the letdown spot.
And speaking of the Saints: similar to the Patriots, I like the bounce-back spot in their home stadium against the Packers.
