Against the Spread (ATS) Pick
The Eagles are going through a nightmare season, sitting near the bottom of the standings with a 3-8-1 record and going 4-8 ATS. They've been held back by a slew of injuries as well as poor play from quarterback Carson Wentz, who will be benched for this matchup while rookie Jalen Hurts takes over under center.
The Saints are 10-2 straight up and are 5-0 SU and ATS in their last five games. New Orleans is one of the most balanced teams in the league with an offense that ranks eighth in DVOA according to Football Outsiders, and a defense that ranks second in DVOA.
Although they lost future Hall of Fame quarterback Drew Brees for multiple weeks due to fractured ribs, New Orleans has continued to excel with backup Taysom Hill leading the way. With Hill as the starter in their last three games, New Orleans has gone 3-0 SU and ATS, and with Brees injured last year the Saints went 5-0 SU and ATS in his absence.
Hill doesn't need to be anywhere close to a world-beater in order for New Orleans to cover this spread. Saints head coach Sean Payton will put him in a position to succeed and his offensive line is one of the best in the league. Combine that with a reeling Eagles squad that seems to have both eyes on the future, and we're backing the faves without any hesitation.
PREDICTION: New Orleans -6.5 (-110)
Over/Under Pick
The Saints are playing well with Hill under center but their offense is hardly setting the world on fire. They faced the Falcons' soft defense twice in the last three games and totaled just 45 points and while they hung 31 points against Denver, they did it with just 292 total yards of offense.
It's been the Saints defense leading the way for the team, holding opponents to the second-fewest yards per game in the league with 288.8, and improving that number to 270.8 ypg on the road.
Expect them to dominate Eagles rookie QB Hurts, who will be hurting as he runs for his life behind an injury-depleted line and looks desperately for his mediocre receivers, who are rarely open and love to drop passes.
The Under is 5-0 in the Saints' last five games and 6-0 in the Eagles' previous six contests, and we're hammering it again.
PREDICTION: Under 43 (-110)
Team Total Prop Bet
We really can't stress enough how badly we think the Eagles will struggle to move the ball in this one. This is a team that hasn't scored more than 17 points in any of their last four games and is averaging just 297.3 yards per game over that span.
Now Philly will have to rely on a second-round rookie passer without a single start to his name. Hurts can't be much worse than Wentz, but considering he completed just 5-of-12 passes in relief against the Packers last week, he's probably not going to be any better either.
The Saints stop-unit is fourth in the league in sacks and limits opposing QBs to a passer rating of 85.6, sixth-lowest in the league. Look for them to clip the Eagles' wings and take the Under of Philly's team total.
PREDICTION: Philadelphia Team Total Under 16.5 (+100)
